Jean de Ockeghem

Jean de Ockeghem or Johannes Ockeghem was born in a small Belgian city called Saint-Ghislain. Ockeghem was born in 1410 his born date isn't sure but people think that he was born in the early 1410. His probably most famous piece of music is Missa sine nomine which he made in Brussels, which was the place he died in.

Gilles Binchois

Next stop isn't far away from Saint-Ghislain, it is almost the next city which is Mons.
Composer Gilles Binchois was born near Mons in a city that doesn't exist anymore. From 1419 to 1423 he was organist at Ste. Waudru, Mons. Which we will able to go in during the day.

Gilles Binchois

We will have two stops outside the low countries Rome and he next stop which will be Paris. There he was in the service of the Duke of Suffolk in Paris during years 1424 and 1425.

Guillaume Dufay

Last stop before going back to where we started is Rome. He became a member of the Papal Choir, serving first Pope Martin V, and then after the death of Pope Martin in 1431, Pope Eugene IV. In 1434 he was appointed maistre de chappelle in Savoy, where he served Duke Amédée VIII; evidently he left Rome because of a crisis in the finances of the papal choir, and to escape the turbulence and uncertainty during the struggle between the papacy and the Council of Basel.
