The idea for these activities came from The Choices Program. Students have been highly engaged in the research and discussion.
6 Week Benchmark Information
World History will test on Units 2-4. For WH, it is suggested you give the benchmark as close to the 6th as possible. Everyone should be to the Middle Ages by the end of this week.
Civics/Economics will test on Units 1-3. For CE, it is suggested you give the benchmark towards the end of next week (9th). At that point, you should be in Unit 4, including those of you that started with citizenship.
AM1 will test on Units 1-2 and Unit 3 up to EQ #5. For AM1, it is suggested you give the benchmark towards the end of next week (9th). At that point, you should be towards the middle of Unit 3.
AM2 will test on Units 1-3. For AM2, it is suggested you give the benchmark as close to the 6th as possible, as you should be starting Unit 4 by the middle of next week.
There are review activities in PowerSchool Learning (PSL) for WH and CE. Sorry AM1/AM2, Melissa still has not had a chance to make any for you.
Benchmark Data Sheets
Goal Sheet: This can be used with each student. You can pull up a student's EVAAS predicted score, discuss this with the student, and set goals for the NCFinal and benchmarks.
EVAAS/Benchmark Data: This one helps you compare the students' predicted percentiles with benchmark percentiles.
NOTE: Benchmarks will now tell you the actual percentile a student made. When you look at benchmark results, click on the "summary statistics" tab. BE SURE TO WAIT until the end of the benchmark window before gathering these numbers, as the number will change when other students take the benchmark. With this new feature, Melissa will no longer be creating the benchmark prediction spreadsheet.

Message from Melissa
Sorry I missed you last week. I was unable to carve out the time to get the newsletter done.
It is testing time! ACT is tomorrow (fun) and benchmarks start next week (even more fun).
I have noticed this past year an increase in sharing of resources and people reaching out to get some feedback on lessons. This is splendid. I just love it.
Thanks to all the sharers and inquisitors out there: Anna Kirby, Kendall Fields, Lauren Schaefer, Nikki Brewer, Amanda Blackburn, Heather Hahn, Alley Adolph, Scott McAbee, Leslie Martin, April Sapp, Colleen Mills-Borgqvist, Alexis Callendar, Erica Hall, and all those I have forgotten.
If it kills me, I will build this HS SS Department in to a lean, mean, learning machine!
Have a great week and welcome March!
Melissa
