February Cougar Update
Mrs. Adindu's Dyslexia Class
Different papers of what students are learning are sent home from time to time. Some classes have Reading Practice papers sent home daily.
The Reading Practice papers will have your child's percentage of correct words read. Please look for work that comes home. Sometimes students forget papers in their lockers, but they always remember them when I ask about their take home papers the next day.
Remember that the goal is for students to use these same strategies in their work in class and at home when they are reading.
Just so that they know that you are aware of some of the strategies that they use for reading, ask your child about the following:
- Coding
- Read through the word
- Cursive handwriting
- Skywriting
- S.O.S. procedures for spelling a word
- Learning Ally website (log-ins have been sent home 4 times)
MTA Dyslexia Program
Richardson ISD uses the Multisensory Teaching Approach dyslexia program. This is a great way for students to learn reading through sensory, auditory, and kinesthetic activities. To learn more about the program, please click on the link.
