A Message from the Principal
Greetings,
I look forward to seeing many of you at our first Winter Formal tonight. There is lots of excitement in the air! The theme is “Hollywood”, so dress in your best and come ready for a good time and photo opportunities!
Just a gentle reminder to follow the flow of traffic at drop off and pick up daily. I also ask you to be patient and remember that sometimes when parents get it “wrong” it’s because they are new. If we know situations are temporary, we will ask parents to park in the parking lot and come into the office. I am also thinking about instituting a sign out process in the gym instead of having a car rider line. If you have any feedback on the pros/cons of this change, please share by e-mailing njharrison@avon-schools.org.
Next week brings very cold temperatures and we have a few confirmed cases of the Flu. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, getting 11 hours of sleep and eating a healthy diet so they can stay well through this winter season. We are diligently washing hands, wiping down door knobs and using LOTS of “Magic Soap” (hand sanitizer). Fingers crossed nobody else gets sick! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Nikki Harrison

A Message from Your School Counselor
February is African Heritage month at Maple. We have many families from different countries in Africa and we would like to celebrate all those cultures and languages on the morning news. If you would like to help us showcase your family’s heritage, please contact me! We will have a bulletin board dedicated to pictures and fun facts. In addition, we will be sharing fun facts and even offering brief language lessons on the morning news. We can’t do it without your input. I look forward to learning more about our families!

Reuse-A-Shoe Collection
The Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District in cooperation with Changing Footprints has organized a shoe collection to give new soles to new souls. Don’t throw away your shoes, reuse them instead! Used shoes will be collected February 5-9th. New and gently used shoes will be collected for distribution to homeless, disaster-stricken, or underprivileged people locally, nationally, and internationally regardless of race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.
All Shoes are Accepted:
Any kind
Any color
Any size
The Maple Student Council will be coordinating this again this year at Maple. Please send any shoes you would like to recycle during the week of February 4th. Thank you for your support!
Yearbook Sales
Yearbooks are now on sale! Don't miss out on the memories! Order online at ybpay.lifetouch.com using the code 7318219. Sale ends February 22nd.
YMCA
The Maple and White Oak YMCA programs split when we returned to school on January 7th. There were so many students enrolled in the program that it made sense to have a program at each school again. This means the Maple before and after school YMCA program is no longer full! So, if you’re looking for a fantastic way for your child to start or end the day, you can sign up through www.indymca.org.
