From Hobart High School to the Workplace - We Aim for Success!
The Times article "From School to Work" talks about schools preparing students for their futures in the workplace. Hobart High School is one of those great schools that help prepare students as much as possible for their future workplace by collaborating with local businesses and companies to offer our students internships. Many students have an idea about what career to pursue after high school, through work-based learning, we are giving them the opportunity to experience these careers prior to graduation. "When you talk with students about their placements, they either love it or have determined they need a different career pathway that better suits them" according to Dr. Buffington. Read more about this great program and the positive opportunity and experiences it holds! Click the article below.
Middle School Chess Club Attend STATE!
This year our Middle School Chess Club competed at the STATE level and did very well for their first time! Out of 36 schools, our "A" team took 17th, "B" team took 29th, and "C" team took 34th. This is really quite an accomplishment as most schools bring students that have been in a club through elementary and even high school! These middle school students took on the recently new club and gave it a very loud and proud name! Mr. Reno, who started the Chess Club last year at the Middle School, hopes to see the program spread to both our elementary and high schools, thus making a more rounded program! We would love to see that too! Keep up the great work Brickies!

Theatre Departments Spring Production
This spring our Hobart High School Theatre Department put on an outstanding production of William Shakespeare's A Mid Summer Nights Dream! The scenery, clothes, ambiance; everything was perfect! There performances were spot on to the characters that they were portraying and the passion was clear. Everyone that saw it was amazed and enlightened by the accuracy of their portrayals. It was really an incredible performance! Great job to Cathy Nelson and the entire Theater Department for their amazing work!
Brickie Leaders, Young and Old(er), Come Together!
Liberty Elementary Brickie Leaders had the fortunate collaboration with students from the High School Brickie Leader students! The high school students came to one of their meetings at Liberty and helped inspire and promote kindness while showing how leadership skills can make a positive impact on others. Liberty Brickie Leaders feel it is important for the 4th and 5th grade Brickies to see older students as positive role models. It helps them see that is is "cool" to promote kindness even at the high school level! They participated in ice breaker activities to get to know each other, worked through skits and shared ideas on how to promote positivity and friendships. Be kind, Brickies!

With bounce houses, games, prizes, face painting, chess, magic shows, mario kart competitions and so much more - the night is always a blast! A HUGE thank you to all that plan the event and volunteer their time! We could not host this amazing family friendly event without you! #brickieup

Seniors Nick and Spencer are Playing for the North All Stars!
The Hobart Football Program is proud to let you know that 2 of our seniors, Nick Ray and Spencer Massey, have been selected to play for the North All Stars and will play against the South All Stars on Friday, July 14th in Indianapolis! This is the 1st time Hobart has had 2 players make the team at the same time since 1998 when two of our current coaches, Craig Osika and Doug Bloom, were on it. Only 46 players are selected annually to participate in this great game. To have two Hobart Brickies representing is quite the honor and tribute to all the hard work these athletes put in both on and off the field. Amazing job boys and best of luck this summer!
*Fun Fact* The 1st All-Star game was played in 1953 where we had the late Don Howell representing the Hobart Brickies!
Makers and Innovators
The maker movement began as a trend in which individuals created and marketed products that were recreated and assembled using virtually any materials or products from computer-related devices. Since, it has expanded to a great number of DIY (do-it-yourself) and DIWO (do-it-with-others) based project types in many different areas, including technology, science and art! The Maker Movement is about creativity and collaboration, and about encouraging curiosity in learning. Areas that you can participate in are: science, engineering, technology, art, writing, music, photography, craft, baking, and anything else you child's creative mind thinks of!! Don't limit them! Anything you can think of and make will fit somewhere in the Maker showcase. Be creative and let your mind do the work! For more information and to register (no later than April 7th) visit the link below!
