Things needed for 1st day of try-outs: (Failure to have any of the following will keep you from trying out)

Each quarter teachers at RMS select students who demonstrate a good work ethic, leadership skills, and helpfulness to others. These are the students who were chosen for this quarter.

Annabella’s attitude and participation are stellar! She is a leader in the class and works hard to perfect her assessments.

Dasara is focused on her work and is always willing to push herself to do better. In art, her attention to detail and creative flare complement her exemplary attitude and behavior.

David has been one of the best helpers I have had in the Boy’s Intramural Sports program in all of the years that I have directed it. He is self-motivated, pays attention to details, and has been an excellent mentor to the younger players. He helps set up, and doesn’t leave until the last piece of equipment has been put away.

Misty is a true pleasure to have in class. She has settled in quite nicely here at RMS. Misty continues to display amazing participation on a daily basis. She willingly helps those around her.

Jose is always friendly and positive. He has a fantastic attitude towards school this year. He is super focused and taking care of business in the classroom. Jose has made a lot of growth from last year.
Counseling Corner
Macomb Family Services Adolescent Outreach Program available for all students at RMS. The program is offered during the school day at no cost to families. Parents/Guardians can get help for the child without worrying about transportation, cost, or time. Adolescents needing support may be experiencing:
- Difficulty in school/home related to substance abuse
- Changes in behavior, grades, or friends
- A death of a family member or friend
- Self harming and or suicidal behavior
- Depression or anxiety
- Challenges faced by divorce in the family
- Eating disorders

OK2SAY
- Sixth Grade students will be participating in an OK2SAY assembly on Nov.2. OK2SAY is an anti-bullying and social media awareness campaign hosted by the State Attorney General's Office.
Families Against Narcotics
- Eighth Grade students will listen to a speaker from Families Against Narcotics (FAN) on November 20th. The focus of the presentation is on the dangers of drug use and making good choices.
- Tutoring is being held each Thursday from 2:15 to 3:15 in the media center. NHS students from the high school are available to help with a variety of subjects. See Mrs. Bjorkstrand for a permission slip.
Student Council:
The Student Council Leadership team will be attending the Leadership Training Institute on Monday November 6th at the MISD. Students will attend workshops, meet other student leaders from Macomb County, and learn ways they can develop a strong student leadership presence in their school. Students attending include: Rocky Amalfitino (President), Oliver Lewis (Vice-President), Amanda Willette (Secretary), and Alex Bailey (Public Relations Director).
- The Boo-Gram sale was a huge success for Student council, raising over $100 to be used for funding other upcoming Student Council events.
- Students are encouraged to participate in Student Council's Halloween Costume contest on October 31st during all lunches. School dress code rules still apply, and no masks or violent/gory costumes allowed. A prize will be awarded to the best costume in each grade. Show off our creativity this Halloween!
- Socktober wraps up this Friday October 27th. The student who has donated the most socks will win a trip to Kalahari and the 6th hour class who has donated the most socks will enjoy a pizza party. Winners will be announced on Monday October 30th.
- Boxtop collection also ends Friday October 27th. The fourth hour class who has donated the most socks will receive a pizza party. Winners will be announced Wednesday November 1st.
- A food drive will take place October 30-November 3 at Romeo Middle School. Please bring in nonperishable items to first hour. The first hour class with the most items collected will be treated to a pancake breakfast.

Ski Club
The RMS Ski and Snowboard Club is always looking for new members! We love our kids who return, too! If you would like your email address added to the club contact list, email danielle.roeser@romeok12.org.
For anyone interested, you may want to know that we ski on Thursday evenings from December through February at Pine Knob Ski and Snowboard Resort. The Pine Knob Ski Patrol hold a Ski and Snowboard SWAP on October 28 and 29. This is for new and used equipment. Mostly, vendors from local area stores bring equipment from last year at discounted prices. All forms are due November 17th and are available in the office or in room 104.
