National Letters of Intent - Senior Athletes Signing
Are you going to sign a National Letter of Intent to play a Division 1 or Division 11 sport in exchange for financial aid? This would also mean the college or university has been in contact with you about the signing the paperwork. (D-3, JUCO and NAIA is not on this date)
February 2, 2022 is the second of three signing time periods for prospective senior student-athletes, who have played at Eagan HS, to sign their National Letters of Intent.
If you will be signing to play college athletics during this time period please contact Eagan’s Athletics Director, Sandra.setter@district196.org

COVID-19 Data Shared on Dashboard – Weekly EHS Notification Newsletter Ceased.
Specific COVID-19 information, including data of student positive cases, school-specific cases, county cases and vaccination rate, is updated weekly on our COVID-19 Dashboard available on all school websites. ( Be sure to scroll down the site until you can click on High Schools). After this week, school COVID-19 teams will no longer send case notifications to families. Families must maintain personal mitigation efforts, with or without a notification letter, and direct their attention to monitoring symptoms, keeping students home when sick and frequent screening as necessary.
We need all community members to care for each other and their community by practicing universal precautions:
- Monitor for symptoms every day
- Stay home when sick and test
- Get vaccinated and boosted as soon as you are eligible
- Test frequently for COVID-19
- Wear a well-fitting mask
These mitigation strategies are repeated frequently to members of our learning community, but remain the most effective strategy. We recommend parents to check the COVID-19 dashboard regularly for updates, as well as using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s daily county case rate tracker.
District 196 Notification - Minimum Isolation Period Shortened From 10 Days to 5 Days
Effective immediately, students and employees who test positive are eligible for the shortened isolation period of five days. Isolation may end after five full days if students arefever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and their other symptoms have improved. The five-day isolation period starts with day zero being the first day of symptoms OR the day the positive test was taken. If the above requirements are met, the student can return on day six. (i.e. A student testing positive on a Wednesday could return the following Tuesday.)
This is effective beginning Tuesday, January 18th for our students.
Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is recommended to test regularly, especially if they are participating in in-person learning and co-curricular activities. On-site testing is available for all symptomatic district students and employees at the District Service Center during the week. An appointment is required and can be made by contacting the office at your child’s school. More information is available on the district’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Eagan FIRST Robotics Team - Collection for Open Door and Frontline Workers
The Eagan FIRST Robotics teams are collecting donations for The Open Door food shelf and Gratitude Baskets for front line workers from January 20 - 23 at the east entrance of EHS.
As we are all aware, many families have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To help provide relief for these families, we will be collecting donations for a food drive. All items will be donated to The Open Door, a local organization providing support for families. Top 5 suggested items for donation include:
- canned beans (kidney, pinto, chili)
- sugar
- mayonnaise or BBQ sauce
- toilet paper
- toothpaste
They will also collect dry goods, personal care and household items. The Open Door food shelf also accepts monetary donations (checks preferred payable to Open Door).
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a tough time for all of us, but there are some people who are putting their life on the line to help us stay in our best condition: frontline workers. To express our gratitude, we will be assembling gift baskets for local healthcare workers. We are accepting donations for any of the items listed below for the gratitude baskets. Any donation, either material or financial, would be greatly appreciated! Suggested donations include:
- large baskets and ribbon
- candy or chocolate
- individually packaged single serving snacks
- cans of soda/sparkling water
- bottled water
- tea bags
- hot chocolate mix
- lip balm
- breath mints
- hand lotion - travel size
With your help we can help bring relief to many families and frontline workers!
