This coming Friday, Trimester 1 report cards will be sent home with students. This checkpoint presents a wonderful opportunity for you to sit down with your child, reflect on the progress, celebrate successes, and make plans for improvement.
I would like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of reviewing the EFFORT grades on your child's report card. Consistent EFFORT, over time, is the most trustworthy predictor of academic success and personal growth.
Here's a general interpretation of E (Excellent), S (Satisfactory), and N (Needs Improvement) for effort grades:
E (Excellent): This grade typically indicates that the student consistently puts forth a high level of effort in their citizenship, work and study habits, and academic work. They actively participate in class, complete assignments with care, and demonstrate a strong commitment to learning. Students earning an E for effort are proactive in seeking help when needed and consistently go above and beyond expectations.
S (Satisfactory): A grade of S suggests that the student puts in an acceptable amount of effort. They complete assignments on time, engage in class activities, and demonstrate a satisfactory level of commitment to their studies. While they may not consistently go above and beyond, their effort is solid and meets the expected standard.
N (Needs Improvement): An N indicates that the student's effort in their academic work falls below the expected standard. This could mean they are struggling to complete assignments, lack engagement in class activities, show inconsistency in their commitment to learning, or need frequent reminders related to citizenship and work and study habits. Students with an N for effort might benefit from additional support, encouragement, or strategies to enhance their work habits.
When your child brings home their Trimester 1 report card on Friday (12/8), we encourage you to review and discuss all effort and academic grades with your child, acknowledging their hard work and commitment. Together, let's celebrate not just the outcomes but also the journey of learning. Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment for our students.
Warmly,
Mr. Lynch

What is School Cents???
We post about it weekly, but do you really know about School Cents?
School Cents is a program that gives money back to local schools when families log their purchases made at the Oaks Mall. Logging receipts is INCREDIBLY fast and easy - simply submit via THIS form, or text them directly to Jen @ (909)374-1598. You can also drop any receipts off at the school front office.
Here's what you may not know about School Cents... it is a competition! Not only are schools competing against one another to win extra funds for their placement, but if schools don't earn enough points, they can be removed from the program. Wildwood is currently in 10th place (out of 15 schools) so we need your help! See below for the current promotions:
From Nov 1-Jan 15, we can still earn an extra 20 points per dollar spent.
Taking Santa photos?! Buy a photo package and earn Wildwood 1,000 points. Make reservations at www.shoptheoaksmall.com/santaphotos. Remember to send and save those receipts!
More Ways Your Purchases Help Wildwood
Did you know that by shopping at Ralph's, you can earn money for the school?
Link your Ralph's Club Card and earn Community Rewards that will contribute directly towards Wildwood. You only need to set it up and then every purchase contributes -- you can even share the link with friends and family! Currently, only 29 of our families have registered - let's get that number up!
Create or log in to your Ralphs account, click on your name, then "My Account", and then "Community Rewards" on the left side of the page. Then simply designate Wildwood PTA as your organization and you're done!
Thank you for all the support!

STEAM Update
This week in STEAM we had lots of fun making popcorn, raisins, and rice “dance”! We also read "11 Experiments that Failed” by Jenny Offill and Nancy Carpenter in our TK class (don’t worry, I told them not to try the “experiments” at home)! Thank you to those that donated baking soda and vinegar!!! The kids had so much fun experimenting with with it.
