TUTORING

Tutoring after school with Mrs. Akin will continue this Wednesday. Specific students will be encouraged to attend. However, this session is open to all students who would like additional practice with reading skills. Students should be picked up promptly at 3:30 on the side of the school where carpool is normally. Please email or message Mrs. Akin through DOJO if your child plans to attend this week.

ELLIS ISLAND EXPERIENCE

On Tuesday, 9/25 students will experience life as early immigrants to the United States through our Ellis Island Simulation. To do this we need lots of volunteers. If you are able to give TWO HOURS of your time, we would love it if you would sign up on the Sign Up Genius. Also, if you are able to volunteer and you speak another language please contact Mrs. Akin or Ms. Hicks in advance. If you are not able to volunteer two full hours, you are welcome to come and observe as long as you are able, but please do not sign up on the Sign Up Genius. This really is a very memorable and meaningful experience for 5th grade students. We appreciate you helping to make this possible.

Ms. Preiss & Ms. France's homerooms will go through the simulation from 8:00-9:30. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 7:30 AM so that we can properly train you on your station.

Mrs. Akin & Ms. Hick's homerooms will go through the simulation from 12:00-1:30. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 11:30 AM so that we can properly train you on your station.

FALL CONFERENCES

If you would like to schedule a conference with Ms. France & Mrs. Akin on October 4th & 5th, please sign up on the Sign Up Genius. If none of the times listed work with your schedule, please contact either Ms. France or Mrs. Akin and we will gladly find a time that works for everyone.

HUMAN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT UNIT

The Human Growth & Development Unit will be taught by Coach Berry and Coach Browning on Friday, October 5th to students in Ms. France & Mrs. Akin's classes. More information will be sent to you via email so that you have a better understanding of what will be taught. An exemption form will be sent home in your child's Tuesday Folders this week. Because this is an opt out form, it only needs to be returned if you do not want your child to participate. Students opting out will spend the day in another 5th grade classroom. Please contact Ralph Berry rberry@atlanta.k12.ga.us or Kelly Browning kbrowning@atlanta.k12.ga.us if you have questions or need further clarification.

FIELD TRIP PAYMENTS

PTA is collecting a one-time field trip payment of $85 per student for field trips. If you have not already paid, you can make a payment on MSA (myschoolanywhere.com) or write a check to WTJ PTA. Thank you!
