We encourage you to let your child’s teacher know how important they are during this special week.Congratulations to our DARE Essay Winners!!
We are so excited to share that, Chase G and Kenzie P, were chosen as the 5th Grade Jefferson DARE essay contest winners. We appreciate how much time and effort went into creating and being able to share their writing with other 5th Graders at Jefferson and our DARE Officers from the Dickinson Police Department. Thank you to Officer Peters as we have partnered with the DPD for sharing the importance of teaching students decision-making for safe and healthy living, now and in the future.

May 17th Jefferson GOODBYE GRILL OUT!
Please RSVP via the QR Code by May 12th @ Noon!
We need your help! The new piece of equipment will cost around $48,000. As a school, we are excited to let students be a part of the process of picking the new replacement playground equipment, but for the 23-24 school year, we will have an open area on our southside playground.
Student Council will be sharing the options with students over the next week. Students will then be voting from the three playground equipment options below and the winner will be revealed at the GOODBYE GRILL OUT!
We need your help to raise money over the next year to meet our target installation for August 2024. More fundraising information to come! If you would like to make a monetary playground donation please reach out to the Jefferson Office staff. We are able to provide proper tax documentation for gifts given if asked.
Thank you for helping to leave a legacy here at Jefferson and helping us say goodbye to an old and trusty piece of playground memories for many Jefferson Tommies!

SEL Snapshopt
May is Mental Health Awareness month, being mentally healthy is an essential component of our whole health. We have a variety of mental health practitioners in our region who are able to support people in their journey towards increasing their mental health. Our school social workers, school psychologists, and school counselors can provide a list of these resources if you are interested.
We are continuing to focus on the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, CASEL, competency Responsible Decision Making. Our lessons will focus on themes of personal safety, solving problems, recognizing the size of problems, understanding the positive and negative consequences of choices, and recognizing when to ask for help. We will also be learning about summer safety skills.
Art News!
2nd graders worked with creating a value scale by learning to control the pressure on their drawing tools. 3rd graders worked on creating artwork using a variety of media such as bubblewrap to create beehive prints. 4th graders are celebrating artists creating art from a variety of media such as food with an ice cream sculpture party. 5th graders are working on creating 1 point perspective by drawing trains.
Physical Education
For the final month of school, K-5th Grade will finish up their football unit during the first week of May. Once football is completed, 5th grade will complete their fitness testing unit which will last a week. During the second week of May, K-3rd grade will complete their hula-hoop unit. After the first two weeks of the month, all grades K-5 will finish up the year with throwing and catching games along with small sided tag games. Thank you for all the fun this year and have a great summer!
