Pink Pride

In the Spring of 2018 Harris Elementary school staff and students had a "pink out" day to support Mrs. Rutter, our Music Teacher. Many wore pink and made generous donations. The student donations went to the GG Breast Cancer Society and staff donations and raffle were given to Mrs. Rutter's medical fund. Tons of pictures were taken and a slide show was created and shared with Mrs. Rutter to bring cheer and smiles.

Honoring our Vetrans

In November, third grade students made Veterans Day cards in appreciation to those who have served and continue to serve our country today. These cards were distributed as part of the Woonsocket Senior Center’s Annual Veteran’s Day Celebrations.

Appreciation for our Soldiers

Mrs. Pires fifth grade Feinstein Jr. Scholars collected close to 200 letters for our veterans. They were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from the First Sergeant who collected the Veteran's Day letters. He was escorted by two students as he visited the younger grades and answered questions Feinstein Jr. Scholars had about the military. All students showed their respect and gratitude, appreciation for our soldiers.

Making Spirits Bright

In December Mrs. Greco’s third grade Feinstein Junior Scholars made chocolate covered pretzels for our senior friends at the Woonsocket Senior Center. They spread a lot of Christmas cheer through song and poetry. Thank you Feinstein Jr. Scholars for bringing smiles to our community. And thank you seniors for your generous gifts to our students. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Over the Christmas Season students at Harris School collected over 1500 food items (canned goods and non-perishables) that were donated to the food pantry at St. James the Episcopal Church in Woonsocket. We are so proud of our Feinstein Jr. Scholars for all of their generosity and contributions.

Reading Buddies

The Feinstein Junior Scholars at Harris Elementary are dedicated to helping others. The older students have become buddies to the younger ones; reading, writing, socializing, and playing with them. The older students work hard to make sure their buddies are safe and happy. They love seeing their buddies throughout the day.

Embracing Diversity

The student’s in Mrs. Pires fifth grade ESL class are a diverse group of Feinstein Jr. Scholars. They enjoy learning about each other's cultures, languages, customs, and traditions. They worked diligently in creating a cookbook showcasing family recipes passed down from generations. They learned a lot about respecting the uniqueness of one's roots and appreciating meals from other cultures.
