Monthly Community Newsletter

We are excited to launch our monthly community newsletter! We hope this will provide a window into what's happening within our community and keep you up to date with highlights from events, programs, and school celebrations.

This quarter has been rewarding in many ways and we are excited to share some great news with our community.

Harmony DC PCS opened its doors in the 2014-15 school year as a Kindergarten-5th grade elementary school. This year we added grades PK3 and PK4, and are now proudly serving students and families from PK3 through 5th grade.

Breakfast with Our Parents

During the first 3 weeks of school, we invited parents and families to have breakfast with their homeroom teachers. We had a blast! The teachers really enjoyed connecting with our Harmony families. This fall, 40% of our parents were able to join us! We look forward to seeing more families at our next event. Check out some pictures from our Breakfast with parents and families event!

National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th through October 15th, is a celebration of the achievements, contributions, culture, and inspiration of our country's Hispanic community members. Although there is no limit or timeline on celebrating the successes of great people, this month has been designated as just one moment when we can highlight Hispanic Americans who are champions of our great nation!

Our students created posters that highlight Hispanic Americans who have made a great impact on society. Take a look at these awesome projects!

PBIS Celebration

Every month we celebrate classes with high Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) points. During the first few weeks of school, each homeroom chose a STEM career to represent their class. We learned about the values of respect, accountability, and teamwork. This pep rally provided a chance for each class to show the entire school how proud they were about the STEM career their class represented. Congratulations to all classes.

Character Day

On October 27th, our students celebrated Character Day! Character Day is a celebration where students come in dressed as their favorite storybook character. Students were able to have their favorite books come to life. Ms. Shepherd and Mr. Montgomery brought the book If You Give A Cat A Cupcake by Laura Numeroff to life, through an engaging interactive read aloud in each classroom. Check out some of our wonderfully creative students and staff!

DC PCSB Executive Director Dr. Michelle J. Walker Visited our Campus

Harmony DC PCS was honored to welcome DC PCSB Executive Director Dr. Michelle J. Walker-Davis to our campus. Dr. Walker-Davis visited several classrooms and was welcomed with open arms. We were proud to show her all of the wonderful things that happen in the building on a daily basis.

October is National Principals Month!

Harmony DC PCS would like to honor Principal Culha for National Principals Month. Serving as principal for over 3 years, Principal Culha has contributed to countless educational initiatives and touched the lives of many students and families. We are continually impressed with his ability to unite our campus community. His Dedication to Harmony DC PCS is unparalleled and we are forever grateful for his support and hard work.

Mr. Culha, you have fostered a sense of support and appreciation that allows us as educators to improve our practice daily. Your long hours and hard work make such a difference to ensure the learning and growth of both our students and staff. We are forever grateful for all you do.

Thank you!
