A Message from Superintendent Dr. Shawn Olson ~ 8/20/2021

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope everyone enjoyed summer break and is ready to get back to full in-person learning!

We have worked diligently over the summer to prepare for our student’s safe return to school. Our primary focus this year is to provide 100% full in-person learning with the least disruption possible due to illness or quarantine. We fully anticipate being able to provide a large number of pre-COVID activities to students and their families, including extracurricular clubs, sports, school celebrations, and PTO-sponsored hot lunch programs.

It has been a remarkable journey thus far, and although we are not quite there yet, the opening of this school year is a huge step toward some semblance of normalcy for our school community. We will begin the year with full in-person learning following IDPH/ISBE guidelines and Governor Pritzker’s masking mandate. As the year progresses, the district will be gathering data, tracking quarantine and transmission rates in our schools, and hopefully moving towards eventually limiting and/or reducing mitigations. We are a strong community. Let us continue down a path of mutual respect, understanding, and compassion as we work together to support our children.

I hope that you continue to rest and recharge over the next few days and that we return to school on August 24 happy, healthy, and ready to continue this journey together.

Dr. Shawn M. Olson
