Academic Grades and Work Habit Expectations:
We are midway through the first quarter. You will begin to see Work Habit Expectations posted in Infinite Campus. That also means that this is a great time to sit down with your child and look at their academic progress. All grades are updated weekly. You can access both work habits and academic grades through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal
As you have likely read before, in addition to academic letter grades, we also communicate work habit expectations with students and families for each class. Work habit expectations are skills that will help students be good life-long learners. Work habits are measured and recorded quarterly. The ratings include - exceeding expectations, meeting expectations, approaching expectations, and needs improvement.
Some may ask, aren't these expectations part of students' letter grades? The answer is, no. Letter grades show what students have learned. Work habits communicate students' academic behaviors. These behaviors include things such as participation, students doing their best work, working together with peers, and being ready to learn during class.
Here is a link to the Work Habit Expectations matrix.

Parent Teacher Conferences are on October 17th & 19th beginning at 4 PM
More information will be coming from your child's team of teachers shortly.
We want to continue building positive relationships with all middle school families during these meetings. Homeroom teachers will have general academic information and FastBridge data about children. Parents are asked to reach out to a teacher directly if they have a specific question or concern about a particular subject.
Student Services Team members are available throughout the evening as well.
Homecoming MHMS Dress Up Days - 10/9-10/13
Please have your child wear red, black or white to school on Friday, October 13th. It’s so exciting to see our Mount Horeb school spirit when everyone dresses up!
We recommend students wear athletic shoes in case they need to “Jump Around.”
If your student chooses to wear some makeup or hair dye (i.e write MHB or Vikings on cheek), it needs to be applied at home, not at school. Students may not cover their entire face in face paint.
Picture Retake/Make Up Day is Thursday, October 19th
Picture Retake/Make Up Day is October 19th. This is a final chance to take a school portrait and appear in this year’s yearbook/composite.
Before Retake Day, view your student photos online, and select which image you want to appear in this year’s yearbook/composite, by clicking the link that was emailed to you by "Visual Image Photography", or by going to vipis.com to search for your photos.
If you attend retake day be sure to return to the same gallery about a week after retakes to view your new photos and reselect your yearbook image.
All yearbook image selections must be made within two weeks after Retake Day or VIP will choose one for you.
If you cannot find your images or have any questions, please contact VIP at support@vipis.com with your student information
