MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOTZNY
Dear Parents,
The Superintendent’s Fun Run returns for its ninth annual fundraising event on April 9! Registration for the highly anticipated community event, which features a 5K run, a 1-mile family-friendly course and a fun-filled kids zone, is open now. The event will take place at the Berry Center, with the 5K winding through Towne Lake and Lone Star College-CyFair. Sponsor and vendor booths, food trucks, bounce houses and student performances will make the day even more special for the thousands of community members in attendance.
I have already registered for the event, and I hope to see lots of Sampson families there.
Heather Motzny

From the library
3rd grade had an amazing time with Bruce Foster, a local paper engineer who creates pop up books! The students were so engaged with our lively presenter. Be sure to ask your 3rd grade if you haven't heard already. Some of his most famous work is a Harry Potter pop up book. Some students asked about purchasing the book. Please contact Mrs. Maddan if you are interested. marybridget.maddan@cfisd.net
5th grade book club will meet on Thursday, March 10 to discuss Matilda. Read it before coming to the library for lunch. We are sure to have some good laughs. (Remember - the audio book is always an option. Kate Winslet does the audio book and is fantastic with her many voices! Give it a go!)
March 2 is Read Across America Day. We welcome all of our Stallions to dress up in Dr. Seuss gear! Pick a character and be your best that day!

5th to 6th Information
Electives forms for students zoned to Spillane MS will be sent home next Friday, March 4th. Electives forms for students zoned to other Cy-Fair ISD Middle Schools have already been sent home. Students will be selecting a PE course and their top 3 Electives choices. Please read the information below.
There is a new PE course offering for grade 6; Pre-Athletics. Students will be able to choose between regular PE or Pre-Athletics. Pre-Athletics is NOT a prerequisite for taking Athletics in grade 7. Click on the link below to access more information about Pre-Athletics on the District website.

Students get one elective in grade 6 (Band, Choir, Orchestra, Full-year Art, Full-year Theater Arts, Rotation). Full-year Art and Full-year Theater Arts have limited space. Students who choose Full-year Art or Full-year Theater Arts as their 1st choice are highly encouraged to put Rotation as their 2nd choice. Rotation allows students to have a semester of their 1st choice and a semester of choir. It gives the Art or Theater Arts teacher an opportunity to get to know the student and they will be able to take the Advanced class in grade 7.
