GRE Family Gazette
April 15, 2019
Dear GRE Families,
Last week we had several students add their name to the Race to the Finish Wall. Check out the picture of the wall and ask your child if they have signed it yet. In order to sign the wall students must earn 5 Race tickets for the following behaviors:
Giving my best effort on all I do
Being respectful, responsible and safe
Using kind words and taking care of each other
Making myself proud
I have't counted yet, but we are well on our way to our school goal of 300, which means myself and other staff members will be spending the last day of school in a dunk tank! Please help us keep our students focused on finishing the year strong!
As a reminder, this week we have Ohio State Testing in Mathematics for our 3rd and 4th graders. While these tests are important, we want our students to focus on doing their personal best! Be sure to help them get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. See below for lots of important information about upcoming events.
Here's to a great week full of fun, friends and learning!

Specials Spotlight: STEM with Mrs. Keller
Kindergarten is working on the design process, collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. They have been studying fairy tales in class and then are completing STEM challenges based on the fairy tale stories they have read. We recently created parachutes for Jack to escape down the beanstalk and are currently creating houses to protect the pigs from the big bad wolf.
First Grade is working on the 4 Cs and the design process. We read the book Not a Box and then students had to decide something useful they could turn a box into. Students have been creating lockers, places to read, houses for dogs, and many other unique ideas.
Second grade is working on the design process. Their challenge is to create unique flower blooms for the towns flower show.
Third grade just wrapped up learning about circuits. Students created circuits using Makey-Makey. They are now working on coding robots. Students are learning to block code robots through mazes.
Fourth Grade is wrapping up the year with a project from the choice board. Students could choose from designing a new mini golf hole, creating a windmill that harnesses the most energy, creating a stop motion movie, designing a device to launch water balloons, and several other choices.
