Ebert Updates
Dear UMAC Parents,
This afternoon your son/daughter will be bringing home their PARCC test results from last spring. Woods Creek, as a whole, did phenomenal job on the tests and we have a lot to celebrate! You’ll notice the bar graphs on the test results that compare our school with the district and state. We are using this data to look for trends and plan for our instruction this year. Also, please make sure you send back the red folder, as we will use this folder many times throughout the school year to send home important documents.

Shared Reading
Our readers confidently analyzed the similarities and differences as we read Owen and Mzee, by Craig Hatkoff, Isabella Hatkoff, and Paul Kahumbu last week. This narrative non-fiction text engaged our readers as we learned how Owen, a hippo, became close friends with the tortoise, Mzee. At the end of the week, we were proud of how well our team was able to summarize the story with supportive texts. This knowledge certainly was reflected our excellent blogs over the weekend!
This week we will read a play titled The Power of W.O.W by Crystal Hubbard. While reading this story, students will be guided to examine the characters’ thoughts and actions to recognize the play’s theme.Writing

Old Friends: Our old friends worked hard last week to finish unit 1. We talked about the importance of making an estimate before solving a problem. After a few days of review, we will have our Unit 1 assessment on Friday. Unit 2 focuses on the addition and subtraction of decimals.
