Welcome Back! September 9, 2016
A Note From the Principal:
What an opening! I have have been blown away by the teamwork, flexibility and selflessness that I have seen this week. We had a few curve ball thrown at us and have had some challenging situations. But multiple people have stepped up to organize, to support students in need, to share ideas and to give their time and energy. The students have done a great job adjusting and I have high hopes for an even better year than last year!
We will continue to make minor tweaks and adjustments as needed. I put in a help ticket today, because for some reason, a few people are still not able to open/print specific documents and schedules from the Google Site, while others can. I'll get to the bottom of it ASAP. In the meantime, just email me if you need something printed and I can either share it individually with you, or just print it. We will get it sorted out.
Overall, we are in a great place and ready to have an amazing year. Please let me know if you need anything in preparation for Back to School Night. Remember; WE determine how special this year will be by allowing ourselves to stretch and to innovate - even if we fail every now and then.
Happy Friday!
Sincerely,
Chris
Information & Dates:
Principal's Cabinet - The principal's cabinet is back! Please check the google site for your grade level / content representative. We'll utilize the cabinet in two ways: I'll still have monthly meetings with them to discuss building events, issues and ideas to make our school event better, and I will use them to gather quick input or disseminate information between faculty meeting dates. The cabinet will meet on the first Thursday of each month. To submit an item, let a representative know. Items must be submitted by the Friday before each meeting to be discussed AND must be submitted with a solution or idea. The purpose of the group is to improve our school.
Reminders -
- Be sure to check your mailbox (or have a student check) every day
- Don't forget to sign-in in the main office each morning when you arrive. This helps us to know you are here and brings you to the office at least once in case there is something important we need to share with you.
- Carry your ID with you at all times for security purposes and also to lend a hand to Joanne/Lauren. They buzz in so many visitors each day, they would appreciate if that number was lessened by the number of staff who come in and out! If your ID doesn't unlock the door, email Julie Miragliotta to have her send you a new one.
- If you go outside with your class, you must have a walkie talkie with you (volume turned WAY up). This helps you be in touch with Angela, Chris, etc. in case of an emergency, but it also allows the main office to reach you (in case of a parent pick up, etc) when they are unable to leave the office to hunt you down. When you go outside with your class, radio in to the main office saying "(insert name here)'s class is going outside," and then head out with your walkie talkie.
Back to School Night - Thursday 9/15. Please see below for times.
