"Get Back Up Again!"
You made it through the first week of school and guess what, you survived! Find small celebrations each day to keep you fueled and energized. This week is a busy week. Pace yourself. Plan ahead. Make every day count! Enjoy the lyrics to the song below. Sometimes it's the children's songs that help us stop and smell the roses.

Jan Richardson Next Steps to Guided Reading Schedule
As most of you are aware of, our goal this year is 60% of 3rd graders and 63% of 4th graders will pass the Reading STAAR tests in May 2018 through the use of targeted small group instruction. In order to achieve this goal, we will be going through trainings of Jan Richardson’s Next Steps to Guided Reading to target student growth and first-line instruction during small group. The first training for all classroom teachers will take place on Thursday, August 24th with Mrs. Birdwell. Below, you will find the schedule for the day:

Open Enrollment Ends August 25th! Don't wait. Update it now!
Safety TidBit of the Week
- Students should leave the building quietly and in an orderly manner by the designated route without running, pushing, etc., and stand silently in line facing the building.
- Under no circumstances should a student be assigned to check the building or restrooms.
- All doors to classrooms shall be closed and lights turned off before leaving the building.
- Once the students have exited the building, the teacher will call roll. Strict discipline should be maintained.
- Teachers will signal their assigned ILT member using the green “All Clear” or red “Help” sign (provided on the back of the “Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan – Quick Glance” flip book) to indicate that all children are accounted for.
- If a student is missing, teachers should hold up the red “Help” sign and their designated ILT person will radio the information to the front office.
- ILT members assigned to grade levels will report to that grade level’s assigned outdoor evacuation site. They will then notify Mr. Serpas (or Mrs. Brown in Mr. Serpas’ absence) via walkie-talkie that their assigned grade level/ area is “clear” outside (“_______ grade is clear outside”) or if a student is missing (“there is a missing student named _______ from _______’s class”).
- When signaled to do so, students should return to the building in the same manner in which they evacuated.
Continue working on your classroom management plans to support Domain 3 of TTESS. The interactive PDF document is available in Schoology for you to complete. Final plans are due by September 30th. You will bring your management plan to our first staff meeting on August 28th.
