Dear Lilburn Middle School Families,

I hope you've had a great Thanksgiving Break.

I have updated the format of the newsletter. Any feedback would be welcome. The newsletter is also available in Spanish. Click here for the Spanish version.

It was nice to see many of our families in the car rider lane for Pastries for Parents (and Guardians) (pictures) as well as at the ESOL Fall Festival (pictures) on Thursday, November 17 (which was also National Parental Involvement Day).

With only 15 school days left in the semester, it's a great time to review your child's progress on the Parent Portal or Parent Vue App and determine what is needed to meet academic goals for the first semester.

GCPS Promotion Criteria
As a reminder, here are the GCPS promotion criteria:
This shows what the minimum requirements are for students to be promoted to the next grade level.

LMS Milestones Benchmark and Final Exams
These exams are mentioned on the calendar below, but I wanted to highlight them here as well. Teachers will be sharing more information with students about these exams as we get closer.
Tuesday, December 13: Math and Social Studies- Block Schedule
Wednesday, December 14: Language Arts and Science- Block Schedule

Parent Portal and Parent Vue App issues
Apparently the Parent Portal and Parent Vue App are currently preventing parents/guardians from sending emails to teachers. In the meantime, you can find teacher email addresses here:

8th Grade and Gear Up Information

Volunteers Needed
Our 6th and 8th graders will be visiting the Junior Achievement Discovery Center in the spring and we are looking for volunteers who can help with the event.
"If you are not familiar already, Junior Achievement of Georgia provides authentic learning experiences for youth that focus on career readiness and financial literacy. 6th and 8th grade students will visit the JA Discovery Center (on the dates listed below) as a capstone experience to what they have learned in the classroom. Volunteers help the programming come to life, and they provide a day-of training, lunch, coffee, and parking for all volunteers." Click here to register to volunteer.
6th Grade - Mar 20, 21, 22, 23, 24
8th Grade - Apr 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 24
