Definition of Menstrual

  • The recurring cycle of physiological changes in the uterus, ovaries, and other sexual structures that occur from the beginning of one menstrual period through the beginning of the next.

The Four Stages

  • menstruation: the process in a woman of discharging blood and other materials from the lining of the uterus
  • follicular phase: follicles in the ovary mature.
  • ovulation: discharge ova or ovules from the ovary
  • luteal phase: fertilisation and implantation may occur
