The Match

The match was invented in 1680 by Robert Boyle.

The match worked when he rubbed sulfur and phosphorus together which would cause the match to burst into flame.

This helped the people of the time because they no longer need to rub sticks together or use flint and steel to make a flame .

The match's modern day equivalent is a ignitor or lighter. It makes a flame by pressing a button which releases gas and makes a spark and creates a flame
