St. Gertrude School
Special December Bulletin
A Christmas Prayer
O God, Whose mighty Son was born in Bethlehem
those days long ago,
lead us to the same poor place,
where Mary laid her tiny Child.
And as we look on in wonder and praise,
make us welcome Him in all new life,
see Him in the poor,
and care for His handiwork, the earth, the sky and the sea.
O God, bless us again in Your great love.
We pray for this through Christ our Lord.
Christmas Outreach at St. Gertrude School
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the St. Gertrude School Community for your generous contributions to our Christmas Outreach programs. With your help, we were able to make financial contributions to the St. Vincent de Paul Society while also collecting many needed toiletries, hats, mittens and toys. We were also able to make donations to the Make a Wish Charity and Breakfast with Santa. Please continue to remind your children of the importance of giving of your time, talents, or resources to those in need.
Pupil Accomodation Review
As you know, St. Gertrude is one of eight schools in the East Credit Service area being reviewed for possible closure in June 2017. St. Gertrude School will have one community representative from the French Immersion Program and one Council representative from the Regular/English program to attend working meetings on behalf of the community.
Our FI representative will be Mr. Christopher Helme. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Council (and regular program) representative will be Ms. Shelley Bonello. She can be reached at email@example.com
You may direct any questions/comments to our two representatives, and/or continue to email
Information is listed on our school website at http://www.dpcdsb.org/GERTR/Parents and/or on the board website at http://www.dpcdsb.org/CEC/News/Pupil+Accommodation+Review.htm
School Council Update
As many of you may or may not be aware, there is a proposal by the board to close our school. We, the parent council, along with you, would like to prevent this from happening.
Please respond to the council email at
firstname.lastname@example.org in order to allow us to contact you. This email will enable us to keep you up to date with updates as we recieve them, information on organized events/rallies to promote awareness to the community, as well as inform you of when volunteers are needed.
Thanks for your support,
St. Gertrude Parent Council

PARENTS / GUARDIANS COMMUNICATION
We are continuing our effort to move forward in an effort to enhance communication and ensure delivery of important school information.
We have an UNATTENDED EMAIL MAILBOX for the electronic delivery of school newsletters, school information and School Council updates. Questions, concerns or comments will continue to be welcomed at the school. If you have not already done so, we are asking you at this time, please complete the CASL form and provide the school with your email address which can be added to the list of UNDISCLOSED RECIPIENTS who will receive school wide transmissions of information. Your email address will NOT be available to any party outside of the school office. This initiative will ensure that you receive school information without relying on the “backpack”. Environmentally, we will save paper and energy. The CASL form as well as updated information is posted on our school website at www.dpcdsb.org/GERTR
Also, you can follow us on Twitter at @StGertrudeMBC for news items and to take a peek at all the wonderful things happening in our school!

There will be an Information Night for Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Children with Special Needs such as Vision, Hearing, Autism, Physical/Medical and/or Development Delays in the cognitive and/or motor areas on:
Thursday, January 12, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at
Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board
40 Matheson Blvd., West, Mississauga
Please do not cross the lanes of traffic immediately in front of our front doors. We would appreciate parents walking their children to either end of our driveway, and entering our property at these points. Please do not cross the Kiss ‘N Ride lanes in the area of the flagpole, as the moving traffic can be dangerous. We have also noticed that cars are entering through the pylons at the end of the day. The pylons are there to remind parents that they are not to enter the driveway after 2:40 p.m. Cars are also stopping in the driveway to pick up children from the Kindergarten area after school. This is a no parking area. Please be advised that we have your children’s safety as our first priority.
TRANSPORTATION CANCELLATIONS /SCHOOL CLOSURES
A decision to cancel school transportation and/or close schools, due to inclement weather, is usually made by 6:30a.m. Only the Director of Education has the authority to cancel transportation and/or close schools.
Please listen for DUFFERIN-PEEL CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD cancellations or closures. Please note that Dufferin-Peel bus cancellations notices for Dufferin County do not apply to St. Gertrude School as we are located in the Region of Peel.
