Species that are Endangered

Endangered Species

Some of the animals that you love are endangered. That means that are only a certain number of them left. Some of the reasons they are endangered is because humans cut down forests, poaching, and other human mistakes. Some of the animals that are endangered are the following; Amur Leopard, Hawksbill Turtle, Sumatran Orangutan, Snow Leopard, Galapagos penguin, red panda, and the Arctic Fox.

Amur Leopard

Amur Leopards live in the southeastern part of Russia and Jilin Province of northeast Asia. They have been considered endangered since 1996. There are only a few theft in the world. There are 7-12 in China and only 20-25 in Russia.Their diet consists of the following; roe deer, sika deer, small wild boars, hares, badgers, and raccoon dogs.

Hawksbill turtle

The Hawksbill Turtle live mostly in the worlds most tropical oceans. Their diet consists of mainly sea sponges. They are endangered because of illegal Wildlife trade. People will take their shells to make jewelry and other things. There are approximately only 20,000 female turtles left.

Sumatran Orangutan

The Sumatran Orangutan lives mostly in the trees of the tropical forest. Their diet consists mostly of figs. They are endangered because of habitat loss. People are coming the the tropical forests and cutting down the trees. There are less than 6,600 in Sumatra, and less than 54,000 in Borneo.

Snow Leopard

Snow Leopards live in the mountains of Central Asia. Their long tails help them Balance on thin branches. Their diet consists of the mountain ibex and the blue sheep. There are only about 3,700-7,000 Snow Leopards left in the world and 600-700 of them are in zoos. They are endangered because of the people that live around them are pushing their livestock into the mountains , and they are eating the grass that their prey eats.

Galapagos Penguin

While most of the world's galapagos penguins live among the western islands of Fernandina and Isabela, they can also be seen on Santiago, Bartolome, northern Santa Cruz, and Floreana. Their diet consist of only marine animals. Krill and small crustaceans make up the most of Galapagos penguins diet along with larger animals including squid and various species of fish.There are less than 1,600 Galapagos pairs in the world and they are endangered because of fish shoaling which is where places are too shallow and also oil spills.

Arctic Fox

The Arctic fox is found throughout the entire Arctic tundra, through Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Russia, Norway, Scandinavia, Iceland, where it is the only native land mammal. Their diet consist of lemmings,voles,arctic hares
