Weekly Reminders
Wk 7 Term 2 - for the Week Commencing 7th June

National Reconciliation Week - 27th May to 3rd June

Dear Families
All the best for a safe, happy and relaxing long weekend everyone!
WA Day takes place on the first Monday in June each year. It's a day to celebrate Western Australia and all it has to offer us. It is a day recognising our Aboriginal history and the contribution of our First Peoples, both then and now. It is a day to remember our early European settlers and those people from all over the world who have made, and continue to make, Western Australia their home.
WA Day is also a day to celebrate those Western Australians making extraordinary contributions in key areas such as arts and culture; the Aboriginal community; positive social, scientific and economic impact; sport and the WA community as a whole.
The day was originally called “Foundation Day,” however it has since been renamed out of respect for our First Peoples. This change is another way of uniting us as one community, celebrating and co-creating a new way forward, for this great State of Western Australia.
KIndy Interviews
Kindy is a special time in a child's life where they learn to trust and work alongside another set of adults; and they immerse themselves in a brand new environment with so many new experiences, play opportunities and new skills.
Each Tuesday and Thursday I have had the pleasure of meeting new families enrolling their new Kindy child and also sitting with families who have a sibling commencing in 2023. Families of Kindy children are doing a great job preparing their child for the next stage of their little journey - talking, explaining, encouraging, teaching, playing, reading, listening, constructing, reading, counting, and allowing them to become increasingly more independent. Such an exciting time! Well done Mums and Dads!
Two Way Interviews
Parent Teacher interviews commence from Tuesday the 7th June and we hope that all parents will avail themselves of this opportunity to discuss their child's progress and celebrate them as a valued member of our school community.
We have a high expectation that these meetings are a positive, informative and respectful experience for both teacher and parent. Please make sure that you are punctual and inform the Office and teacher if unable to make your allotted time.
Please also note that if you need to cancel your appointment, there is not a guarantee that this can be rescheduled. Teachers will do the best they can, however their availability is limited at this very busy end of the term.
School Disco
As you will be aware, the school disco is to be held next Friday the 10th June. You can find all the details below in the note that was also emailed home last week. Parents are asked to please READ the note carefully, and to respect pick up times and instructions, thank you and a special thank you to the staff and parent helpers who have generously given their time to make the disco a reality!
School Review
A reminder that Monday the 13th June to Thursday the 16th June has been set aside for the QCESR (Quality Catholic Education School Review) and Principal Review. These reviews are conducted every few years for accountability purposes, but also to celebrate the hard work, effort, expertise, progress and culture of our Catholic schools.
The Leadership Team, Advisory Council members, P&F members, staff and some senior students will all be involved at various times in the review process throughout the week, so parents are reminded that we may not be as available during this time as we would normally be.
Principal Leave
I will be embarking on LSL leave for Semester Two and Mr Stuart Munro has been appointed as Acting Principal in my absence. While I am very excited about spending time caring for two little grandchildren and catching up on all those things that never get done at home when working full-time, I will really miss everyone until I return in 2023, ready for another great year of learning at St Em's!
All the very best everyone, and may the week ahead be filled with plenty to be really grateful for.
Kindest regards
Tania Thuijs
Principal

God of Love and Justice,
we pray that our political, religious and community leaders act in the interests of all the people in this land...
that they 'walk the talk' of reconciliation.
Lord, Hear Us
Lord, come walk with us towards peace and reconciliation
God of Love and Justice,
we pray for those who still suffer because of the government policies of the past ...
may they be healed by us 'walking the talk' of your Gospel command to love.
Lord Hear Us
Lord, come walk with us towards peace and reconciliation
God of Love and Justice,
we pray for those who are ostracised because they 'walk the talk' of reconciliation.
May our nation encourage and celebrate their work.
Lord Hear Us
Lord, come walk with us towards peace and reconciliation
God of Love and Justice,
help us to learn the message of justice taught by Pope Francis who has instructed us to go out and share... go out and interact with our brothers and sisters.
May we become your Word in body as well as spirit.
Lord, come walk with us towards peace and reconciliation
Lord, open up our hearts so that we may hear the message you teach of a world in which the wrongs of the past are recognised - a world in which a reconciled people 'walk and talk' together sharing stories; a world in which all people work for peace and justice.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen
