Lincoln Middle School
September 9, 2022
I hope you all had a wonderful week. Below you will find a series of updates for you to be aware of here at Lincoln.
The one informational item I would like to highlight is our Dance Team. We are in need of a coach and/or a choreographer for the team. It is important to us that we find individuals who can support this group and help the team have a successful season. If you are interested in coaching and/or choreographing routines for the team please reach out to me (Eric Larson) at elarson@d57.org and our athletic director, Kelly Baily at kbailey@d57.org. The season is scheduled to start in a few weeks and we very much want to have a Dance Team.
For a general outline, the season begins at the end of September and concludes in January. The team has historically practiced after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a team that 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students are allowed to participate in and we have had between 25 and 32 students on the team. Outside of the practices, the Dance Team performs at our home basketball games during halftime.
If this opportunity to support our students sounds interesting to you, please reach out to us and we would be happy to talk more about this opportunity with you. I thank you in advance for your consideration!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Eric Larson
School Safety Drill | September 14
Our school is committed to the safety and education of all our students. On Wednesday, Sept. 14, we will be practicing a lockdown drill with the Mount Prospect Police Department. This is a required school drill that all schools must conduct each year. The lockdown drill will entail the following:
- A lockdown will be announced to the students.
- Staff will lock classroom doors.
- Staff will gather students silently into an area of the room that is the furthest away from doors/windows.
- Students and staff will remain silent.
- Lincoln administration and officers from the Mount Prospect Police Department will travel around the building to check for compliance.
- An announcement will be made to end the lockdown drill.
We appreciate your support as we seek to create a safe environment at Lincoln. Please feel free to contact Lincoln administration if you have any questions or concerns.
Picture Day | 09/23/22
- All students will be photographed individually.
- No money is needed on picture day.
- Shortly after picture day, your child will bring home 2 proof images, an order form, and instructions for online ordering at shop.hrimaging.com. As you follow the link, you simply need to type "Lincoln Middle School" and you should see our school appear. From there you would hit submit and follow the online instructions.
Student Medication FAQ
Question: Am I allowed to drop off over-the-counter medication for my child?
Answer: Medications (over-the-counter or prescription) are dispensed as follows:
- If appropriate paperwork is on file in the health office, an administrator or the school nurse can administer the medication to your child.
- If a parent wants to bring medication to school on an as-needed basis, the parent must wait in the office to administer the medication to the child. Parents may not drop off medications for students to take independently. Do not send medications in backpacks or lunch boxes.
