Keystone Exams - Depth of Knowledge & Cognitive Complexity

To gain a deeper understand of Depth of Knowledge (DOK) and cognitive complexity of items on Keyston Exams, educators may access this document that provides an in-depth explanation of the Keystone Exam item review process for each tested area in terms of whether items align with the cognitive level of DOK of the Assessment Anchor as defined by the Eligible Content. Sample Keystone items and a comparison of Bloom's Taxonomy to DOK are included for each assessed area.

Business, Computer, and Information Technology Curriculum Framework

With the completion of the Business, Computer, and Information Technology (BCIT) Standards, BCIT educators have created a Curriculum Framework that includes long term transfer goals, big ideas, and essential questions for the key BCIT content areas.

PA School Performance Profile Information

The PA School Performance Profile serves several purposes:

  • Provide a building level score for teachers, as part of the Educator Effectiveness System
  • Provide parents with comparative measures for the school/district of residence, neighboring schools/districts and schools/districts across the state
  • Inform the public of the academic performance measures of each school, comprehensive career and technical center, cyber charter and charter school in Pennsylvania
  • Offer a resource for LEAs to communicate and compare performance, analyze performance indicators as related to achievement, and encourage best practice
    • Communicate performance to various constituencies
    • Employ as an analysis tool to inform goal setting, planning, and allocating resources to improve student achievement
    • Compare performance to local schools
    • Compare performance to schools with similar demographics
    • Encourage implementation of best practices

New PILS Course: Transforming Education Through Connections

This new PILS course was approved to provide 60 PIL hours.

  • Participants will understand the major changes that schools face as they enable students to create personal learning networks, preparing them for success in the new world economy.
  • Participants will understand how to lead and motivate a school or district in creating learning networks to promote student achievement.
  • Participants will understand how learning networks and social media fit into the conceptual framework for thinking strategically.
