Jack Stuart School - September 2021

Administrator's Message

By Mrs. Lazaruik, Principal & Mr. Sikorski, Assistant Principal

Welcome Back!

We have had an awesome first week back to school. We held our Welcome Back assembly on September 10, which was wonderful to gather safely as a Jack Stuart family to introduce staff, welcome new students, hand out Reading University certificates, hear about photo club and sport opportunities.

You will notice that our newsletter format has changed to a web based format to help parents easily access our monthly newsletter. There is important information each month so please take a few minutes to review the newsletter.

Our primary communication with home will be via School Messenger. If you are not receiving emails or text messages, please contact the school to ensure we have your correct email address and phone number.

Communication between school and home is very important to the success of your children's education. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions, concerns or information that teachers need to know to support your child.

Student safety coming to and leaving school is a priority. Thank you parents for ensuring that students are either dropped off in the parking lot zones, walked to the classroom or are using the sidewalk/crosswalk each day and adhering to the posted signs of no parking from 8 am to 5 pm. Our BRSD safety officer has directed us to ensure students are not crossing the meridian/bus lane where yellow bus, Handi-Van and parents vehicles in the handicap zone travel. Thank you for your cooperation.

We wish all students and staff a fantastic school year of learning and growing.

Communication

Our school newsletters will only be available electronically. The newsletter will be sent to families through School Messenger and a copy will be posted on our school website.

Frequent, high quality communication is essential. Parents can expect contact from classroom teachers through monthly class newsletters or weekly news emails, phone calls, student agendas and emails.

Safe Arrivals Program

A practice at Jack Stuart School is to have parents contact the school before 8:30 am in the morning if their child will be absent from school. If a student is absent and we have not received a call from the parent, we will make every attempt to contact parents to verify an absence.

Please help keep our students safe by not walking between vehicles.

For pick up, your child can wait outside their classroom door or meet you at the crosswalk where you can walk them to your vehicle. Please do not walk between vehicles.

Please adhere to the posted traffic signs - no parking on Mount Pleasant Drive.

School Council

Jack Stuart School has enjoyed a supportive and effective school council. The school council has a very important advisory role to play in the functioning of the school. If you are interested in taking part, we would appreciate your involvement. Meetings are usually held every month and run just over an hour. School council meetings will be virtual (a link will be sent out prior to the meeting).

You do not need to hold a position to attend the meetings. Thoughts and input are always welcome.

The first school council meeting is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 29th at 7 pm.
