FMS Staff News
January 14th, 2019
Dear Team,
So much to celebrate from the classroom last week! Check out our hashtag or Facebook page to see all of the awesome! Also, if you would like to add your snow day fun pics to our Facebook challenge, would love to see them!
The snow has made a little kink in our plans for NWEA. We will just do the best we can. Don't stress. At this point we will keep our schedule the same and will adjust if we have more snow days. If we have to test into February, that is no problem.
We've had the opportunity to bring in a student guest speaker for January 25th, Olivia Van Ledtje AKA LivBits. I know this is short notice, but didn't want to miss out on the opportunity. I've included her information below. She was a keynote at the METC (Midwest Ed Tech Conference) last year. Her focus is reading and positive and powerful use of technology. Ms. Lairmore will be working on a schedule. (we have the blood drive in the gym, so we get creative on a speaking area...she will be doing grade level or small group presentations. You can start following her on Twiter @TheLivBits
Her Twiiter Profile:
Liv the Book Activist: reader, thinker, & kid voice believer; CEO of tweets and social media leader. Podcast host: The KidLit Show @pinnaaudio (MOMitored acct)
Have a great week!!
Sincerely,
Beth and Erica
PD Feature for the Week: The Twitter Chat
What is a Chat?
The chat I'm highlighting today is the #tlap chat tonight. It is from 8-9pm CST and the topic is Stop. Right. Now. by Jimmy Casas and Jeff Zoul. Basically the things we can stop doing to be more productive in our roles. Super cool way to connect with authors without leaving the comfort of you laptop.
Want to do a chat but not sure how? Just check in with a teammate, because many of our #fmsteach team has either led or taken part in a chat.
Why Chat? For me it has been about the connections I've made with those that join the chat as well as seeing different viewpoints from colleagues around the globe.
Happy Chatting!!
