Input, Store, Process and Output
Input, Output and Process
Input is when a computer accepts instructions or data. Some examples of input devices are keyboards, touchpads on laptops and remote controls. Computers process instructions and data with a CPU (central processing unit). It can turn instructions into a physical action. Output is when a computer transforms data into information we can see or use. Some examples of output devices are printers, speakers and headphones.
Storage
Storage is when computers retain or remember digital information. Some devices you can use to store information are RAM, HDD or a memory stick. The RAM is the short-term memory of a computer, that remembers the current tasks being carried out. A HDD is a Hard Disk Drive, which is used to permanently store information. A memory stick is a removable storage device.
Monitor
The monitor displays information on a screen. It is an output device that displays peripheral. They are normally part of a computer system.
MOTHERBOARD
The motherboard is the main printed circuit boards in computers. It is like the Central Nervous System of a human.
CPU
The central processing unit (also known as the 'processor 'or 'CPU') is like the brains of the computer. CPU's input information, processes it and then outputs it on to the screen.
OPTICAL DRIVE
The optical drive is reads and takes in information through a laser. The lens then helps guide the laser across the surface of the disc.
TOUCH SCREENS
A touch screen is an input device. They are touch sensitive, and you give a command by touching the screen. Touch screens are found on phones, tablets, game consoles and personal computers.
OPERATING SYSTEMS
This is considered to be like the backbone of the computer. It runs other programs on the computer.
