Study Island Basics
Getting Started with Study Island
Group Your Students Into Classes Through Class Manager:
- This will make viewing reports easier.
- You can create a class page to post assignments and announcements.
- Use live view to monitor students while they are in the computer lab.
Start Studying:
- Study Island is web-based so it can be accessed on any device that connects to the internet.
- Different Approaches to Study Island: assess what is learned by assigning topics that correlate to what is taught in class, complete topics from top to bottom as general review, or focus on standards in which students need remediation.
Use Study Island to Enhance Your Lessons:
- Use printable worksheets to create in class activities.
- Access content from various grade levels to easily differentiate instruction.
- Assess what skills students need.
Monitor Progress Through School Reports:
- Study Island provides automatic, paperless grading - use the class grade book report.
- The suggested topics report allows teachers to easily identify topics that need to be reinforced.
- Students can access their progress by clicking on my reports.
Give and Receive Feedback:
- Lessons and explanations help reinforce what is taught in class.
- Students know immediately if they answered a question correctly.
- Icons identify when a student passes the topic or needs to receive additional assistance.

- Students are added and updated each quarter. If you need a new student added, please let Mrs. Wimble know.
- Study Island has lesson plans and Khan academy videos which may be accessed from the Teacher Tool Kit.
- Tips for using Study Island may be accessed from the Teacher's Lounge.
