Grade Level Updates

Big picture

Kindergarten

We are so excited in kindergarten to begin working on our next units! In ELA we will be talking about our country, space, and movement. We are continuing to learn our sight words, so we are ready for first grade! In math, we will begin learning about measurements, 3-dimensional shapes, and the base ten system. In science we are going to take a deeper look into force and motion. We are also looking forward to our end of the year celebrations, to include kindergarten continuation, class parties, and field day! We are excited to celebrate these sweet kids and all the incredible growth they have made this year despite all the challenges. What a year it's been!

1st grade

In math, first grade is working on place value, adding, and subtracting with missing numbers, and word problems. In reading and writing we are making observations in the sky and writing with detail. We have loved seeing the kids use learned sight words in their writing.

2nd grade

The second graders at Adam’s Elementary are excited to be working on animal research projects. We will be learning how to use a variety of resources to dig deep on an animal and write a book describing habitat, diet and more. We are also learning how to tell time on an analog clock and measure in inches and centimeters. We are enjoying learning with our “Nature Experts” from Catamount. We also continue to practice our reading fluency, sight words and more!

3rd grade

3rd graders are discovering the relationship between humans and their environment. They are investigating “Where in the world are we?” Students will be exploring geographic characteristics of landforms, continents, and regions. They will analyze how geography influences how we live. We are so excited to see how students will apply their learning to real world situations as they engage in the performance task.

Students who are in person will be taking the Colorado State Assessment on April 13 (Tuesday), April 14 (Wednesday) and April 15 (Thursday). Please have students arrive at school no later than 7:40am. The test will start promptly at 8:00am. Students will need to have their computers fully charged and ready to go.

4th grade

Fourth graders will have CMAS Math testing starting Tuesday-Thursday (4/13-4/15). Catamount will also be visiting on Wednesday for our outdoor learning experience. In writing, students are working hard on creating a compare/contrast five-paragraph essay focusing on two myths from different cultures alongside our Mythology unit. We also are getting ready to start our new science unit on Energy.

5th grade

Officer Watts, School Resource Officer, will be sharing a presentation with our 5th graders on Monday, April 12th. The focus will be on bullying, cyberbullying, personal responsibility, and making safe choices.
