Quote of the Week - In Honor of American Indian Heritage Month

“When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.” – Cherokee Tribe
Big picture

According to tribal history, Cherokee people have existed since time immemorial. The Cherokee's oral history extends back through the millennia. It’s recorded that the tribe's first European contact came in 1540 with Hernando DeSoto’s exploration of the southeastern portion of our continent. Today, the Cherokee Nation is the largest tribe in the United States with more than 430,000 tribal citizens worldwide. More than 141,000 Cherokee Nation citizens reside within the tribe’s reservation boundaries in northeastern Oklahoma.
