Thank YOU!

Members of the Beckman Community,

As the semester comes to a close and we wrap up the first half of an unprecedented school year, I want to thank you for the patience and understanding you've shown over the last several months. Between opening school during a global pandemic, dealing with not one, but two wildfires that forced members of our community to evacuate their homes, and the overall uncertainty we see in our country today, you have been extremely patient and supportive of our school staff. Thank YOU for your understanding during all of this. This has not been easy, but our teachers, our counselors, our custodial crew, our campus supervisors, and all our staff have done their best to make the best of the situation. We understand it hasn’t been perfect, but it’s not for a lack of trying and we really do appreciate your patience and support.

Thank you,

Donnie Rafter

Principal

Hybrid Group Tags for 2nd Semester

A message was sent to all Aeries accounts containing information about 2nd semester Hybrid groups. Please take a moment to login to Aeries and navigate to the Demographics screen (Student Info à Demographics). Towards the lower right-hand area of the Demographics screen, you will find the current Hybrid/DL tag alongside the Future Hybrid/DL tag. The group you/your student is in for next semester can be found in the “Future Hybrid/DL” field (photo to the left). These tags have now been updated to reflect any changes.

If the tag you see in the “Future Hybrid/DL field is inaccurate, please let us know no later than Friday, December 11th by using the form here.

Winter Recess

As a reminder, the last day of Winter Break is Monday, January 4th. Students will resume classes on Tuesday January 5th. Students in the O1 group will still report to campus for in-class instruction on Mondays and Thursday, while students in the O2 group will report on Tuesdays and Fridays. When students are not on campus, or are in the DL group, they will attend classes via Distance Learning.

Add/Drop for 2nd Semester

Please keep in mind that students can request course changes for semester 2 from December 7th – January 8th using the online Google Form on the counseling web page. Changes will be made on a space available basis and once made will be final, students with changes will start in the new class on Tuesday January 5, 2021.

PSAT Reschedule...

The PSAT that was scheduled back in October and was cancelled has been rescheduled. Instead of a PSAT, we will be offering a full SAT on March 3rd. This will give students an opportunity to take the SAT AND receive an SAT score to post. In order to maintain proper social distancing, we must limit this administration to Beckman juniors ONLY. The cost for the test will be $72 ($19 for students who qualify for Free and Reduced lunch). Students must pre-register and pay through RegiSmart. Link and additional registration information will follow soon. For those students concerned about qualifying for National Merit, we will utilize the NMSQT Alternate Entry option. Additional information on the Alternate Entry option can be found here.

Finals Week

Don't forget that the last week of December (the 14th through the 18th) is finals week here at Beckman. Students will have the opportunity to take their final remotely or in person on the given date and time. To the left is a copy of the bell schedule for your reference.

Course Selection for Next School Year?!?!

YES!!! In January, our counseling staff will begin rolling out information on course selection for the 2021/22 school year. Students will be given time to revise their 4-year plan, learn about specific course offerings, and adjust their course requests for next school year. Activities will take place during our Wednesday tutorial time on January 13th, 20th, and 27th. Please make sure to attend tutorial and follow along with the activities so that you are placed in the proper classes for next school year!

Counselor Coffees in January

Generally, as our students receive information on course selection for the following school year (see above), our counseling team hosts "Counselor Coffees" to share the same information with our parents. These will take place on 1/19 for 9th grade, 1/20 for 10th grade, 1/21 for 11th grade and 1/22 for 12th grade. All meetings will start at 8:30 and locations/links will be shared as they are available. As an additional support, all videos shared with students during the student course selection meetings will also be made available to parents.
