FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Mustang Families,
Welcome back from spring break! The weather has been keeping things very exciting here at Maltby, but as the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. We have a few important updates as we approach the home stretch for this year and begin to plan for next school year.
Parent Input for Class Placement for 2022-2023 School Year
We value and welcome your insights regarding your child’s learning needs. We will use the information from the input form in collaboration with staff input as we create the framework for class placements for next year. We assign students to classes that are academically, behaviorally, and socially balanced. We respectfully ask that you do not request a specific teacher. If you are wanting to provide input into the class placement for your child, please submit this form no later than Friday, April 28th.
Thank you for bringing your students to us for their academic and social learning. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at hillestadc@monroe.wednet.edu or at 360-804-3500.
In Partnership,
Christine Hillestad

What help is available?
For answers, please join us on Wednesday, April 26th at 6:00 p.m. for Transition Resource Night!

All ages are welcome and we hope to see you there!
State Testing is coming in May
State Testing is coming in May for Maltby 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
Washington students take state and federal tests regularly to assess their learning growth as well as the progress of the educational system as a whole.
Great websites to learn more about SBAC and for students to take practice tests
Maltby 2022-2023 SBA (Smarter Balanced Assessment) Testing Schedule
Students have already begun practicing for the SBA in their classrooms. The SBA includes two English Language Arts assessments, two Math assessments, and one Science assessment (5th grade only). It is important that students are in attendance during the test dates. We will be testing May 16-May 24th with make-up testing going through June 2nd. More details will come at the beginning of May.
STAFF STAR OF THE WEEK
This employee will be the “Star” for two weeks. A staff member will be drawn every other Friday. A picture and information will be posted on the bulletin board near the front office.
Staff members will be able to leave sweet notes or a shout out on the bulletin board.
Next week we honor Heather Harrington, as one of our amazing Teachers.
