A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Patrick Families,
Ay-chi-hua-hua! It is 2017!!
December showed us the caring of others as students enjoyed the warming gloves from Gold Valley Fellowship; and Figaro's Pizza helped us raise money for our Maker's Lab with sales of extra-large pizzas on Wednesdays! Students and families got to make ornaments and memories with our PTO Ornament night, and our PTO helped raise money for scholarships at the Crater Scholarship Auction. Kinders "explored" the moon and sang about reindeer! There were exhibitions from magnet classes and other classes who demonstrated community caring and wellbeing by putting together care boxes for the elderly. Panthers are on the move and demonstrating community!
This month I would like to strongly encourage you to participate in our PTO Meeting on January 10 at 6 pm in Room 1. This is a dynamic group that helps to create great family activities for our Panthers and support classrooms and student learning. We would love to have you be a part.
A reminder that January 16 is MLK Day and there will be no school. This day is celebrated for Civil Rights/Equality achievements. King's message went beyond "Black and White;" he also dealt with issues of gendered stereotypes, poverty, and privilege. May I say that we at Patrick are proud to serve a wide variety of families. Please know that your students are loved and valued here, and we are honored to be a part of their experience.
January 20th will be another Family Movie Night-- this month featuring "The BFG" (2016). The admission for students and their families is free. There will be drinks and food available for $1 each. But the emphasis here is providing a fun and affordable evening for Patrick Families. We ask that families do NOT bring pillows or blankets for this event. Anytime groups of people gather, there is an opportunity to "share" things such as germs, lice, and more. If you bring these items, you will be asked to take them back to the car. PLEASE help us to make this a"NO LICE Event."
Finally, January 26 will be our Patrick Music Night at Crater Performing Arts Center, at 6:30 pm. Mrs. Cawthorne and our students have been working hard perfecting their performances and you will be receiving more information about times and where children should go. We are so lucky to have this opportunity to learn with Wendy Cawthorne and the pride in performance is a look and feeling one can never forget. Patrick Staff looks forward to seeing you there.
Enjoy the January stars with your wonderful children,

Thank you Riki Rosenthal and Amber Tocher for co-chairing the annual PTO sponsored ornament night and auction. A good time was had by all and visiting with Santa Claus was an extra special treat.
Gold Valley Fellowship came and passed out gloves and candy canes to all of our Panthers. It was perfect timing as the winter weather really hit and our Panther's little paws were getting cold. Thank you so much for your generosity and care for our students.
A great big hug and thanks to Nichole Petty and Sheralee Couch for popping, bagging, and passing out popcorn to our Panther's for the December Popcorn Friday. Popcorn Friday's are always the Friday after the month's PTO meeting; if you have a couple of hours free and would like to help with this event please contact a PTO board member.
We appreciate our volunteers and all that they do for our Panthers.
PTO's Holiday Craft/Ornament Night and Auction was a huge success. Thank you to all who attended, made ornaments, and purchased auction items; your continued support is appreciated.
We are always looking for new members and new idea's to support Patrick teachers and students. Please bring your idea's and join us January 10th at 6:00 PM in room 1 for our monthly PTO meeting.
