Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear Ram families,
I want to begin with a thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped out last week during our Scholastic Book Fair. It was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without your help!
Looking ahead to this week, CAASPP testing begins tomorrow and will take place during your students' regularly scheduled class periods beginning with Language Arts. Math testing will not take place until May. Please encourage your child to get plenty of rest and to try his or her best. We value their participation because the data we receive provides us with a snapshot of their progress over time and helps to drive our instructional program moving forward.
Be sure to read our entire newsletter where you will find information on upcoming events and activities, along with a brief video of Coach Spy's 6th graders tackling a new challenge - drumming...in PE!
That's it for now. We look forward to seeing all our students tomorrow, and remember, it's a 6/2/4 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke
Science Olympiad Students visit NASA
A handful of TPMS Science Olympiad students visited NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab. They viewed the mission control room, Curiosity Rover, and saw live data feeds from NASA's Deep Space Network. They also got to view the large laboratory in which the newest rover, Mars 2020, is being built and saw all parts of the spacecraft and rover. It was an amazing experience.
Drumming Curriculum
Our 6th grade PE teachers are experimenting with a new drumming curriculum as part of their rhythm and movement unit. Watch the video below to see Coach Spy and her students in one of their first attempts. Not bad, huh? I think they have potential.

ADL Walk Against Hate
This year, Twin Peaks has partnered with the Anti-Defamation League in San Diego to work towards becoming a school where hate is not tolerated. The No Place For Hate committee has held a school-wide signing of the Resolution of Respect and have also discussed with their peers, “Slurs, Offensive Jokes, and how to address them”, in their first activity. The committee is currently working on the second activity addressing culture and identity.
In San Diego, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) are celebrating their 2nd annual Walk Against Hate which brings the entire community together to promote diversity. Thousands of students, parents, business leaders and community members will walk with one another to highlight the values of respect and inclusion. We would love to show our RAM P.R.I.D.E. by joining other San Diego schools and the ADL on their Walk Against Hate.
