News At The Creek
Agenda for Jan. 5 Workday
Staff Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm
Building Hours: 6:30am-6:45pm
11:00am - Make Up Meeting for GTES Mid-Year Conferences and RBES Goal Mid-Year Update (for those who did not attend before the break)
1:30pm - Report Card support with Paula Neese (optional in Lab 1)
Dress warmly. The building is usually cold after having no heat over the break.
Heads Up: Dr. Barlow, Assistant Superintendent, will be in the building from 2:30-4:00 for a meeting. The first ten people who email Carrie their top New Year's resolution will get a treat in their mailbox.
Please make sure you are at your duty post on time. We have had several vacant posts lately. If you are absent, please make sure you arrange for someone to cover your duty for you. Thank you for your help!
It is extremely important for teachers to let Kerrie Peery know if you have heard a student may be leaving Duncan Creek. We need to know if a student is withdrawing in order to keep from accumulating absences. Also, attendance must be taken by 9:00am every day. Mrs. Peery is having to email teachers daily to take their attendance. Thank you for your help with this!
Parent communication will take place through the teacher eClass page beginning on February 1st. We will be sending home information home to parents on January 23rd & 30th. You may temporarily place a link to your website on your eClass page until the end the school year, however information must be updated in both places. After February 1st, links to teacher web pages will not be on the school website. In January, Paula will meet with teachers to update eClass pages for the second semester. Email Paula if you have something specific on your website that you would like help transferring over to your eClass page.
Have a wonderful holiday and a safe, restful break! I feel so blessed to be at Duncan Creek. I appreciate each and every one of you. Take time to rest and rejuvenate, and I look forward to a wonderful 2015 together!
Heads up about a couple things/reminders when we return:
-January 9 GKIDS data pull for the state
-January 20th GKIDS data pull for GCPS
-February 11 NAEP (4th Grade-select students, more info to come when we return)
Holiday Sweater Smack Down
I have laughed more this year than probably the past 10 years of my life. LOVED my first holiday sweater even here at DCES-you all are an amazing, creative group of people!
Spring SSTs and Retention Concerns
As there are no promotion requirements linked to standardized assessment this year, student promotion will be based solely on their mastery of the AKS. If you are considering a student for retention, he or she must be in the SST process no later than January 29th. Being in the process means that we had at least one SST meeting where progress in the curriculum was in question. The only exceptions will be for students newly enrolled. Email Mrs. Jackson your questions/concerns.
Keep in mind, if you've had a concern about a student either academically or behaviorally, late spring should not be the first time this student is brought up for review.
We will try to again in the spring. Go ahead and email me your interests (grade level, subject, days). -Jackson
CLIMATE COMMITTEE THANK YOU
Climate Committee would like to thank 12 Stone Church, who provided the yummy biscuits and Cross Pointe Church, who provided the coffee and Cokes for our faculty and staff for our 2nd Annual Sweater Smackdown. In addition, thanks to everyone on the committee and beyond who helped plan, set up, clean up, judge ugly sweaters, take pictures, gather prizes and participate. We couldn't have done it without you all! Dan Vander Wal, campus pastor at 12 Stone Braselton, attended the event and commented on the warm, caring atmosphere of our school.
