Ixonia Elementary School
Falcon Flyer - December 22, 2017
Dear Ixonia Families,
This has been a year of setting goals and work hard to achieve those goals. Four months have already zipped by us. As I watch the construction of the new building unfold outside, I am reminded that our students are undergoing their own form of construction: the construction of their learning. Though the results are not always as obvious, each day your children come to school to "work" -- and they work hard to process new concepts, develop new ideas, and make connections that build a framework for understanding the world around them. We celebrate their learning milestones. And with the blueprint laid out by their teachers, they set new learning targets of which the work towards each day.
And today I am so pleased to announce a celebration of another goal met! In only five weeks, we asked the Ixonia Community to come together around a target of $10,000. And with the PTO at the helm, that target was met and well surpassed by raising $12,270! But that’s what we do at Ixonia -- when we have a clear goal in mind, and a path to get there, we achieve!
As a result of all of this hard work, the PTO has officially raised $31,780! In addition, the Oconomowoc School District will be funding an additional $25,000 bringing our total to-date to over $56,000. That is a huge milestone. Why? Because the playground that we have been planning for has a price tag of $53,000. We are proud to say we have achieved the goal of building our playground!
Over the next months, any additional funds that the PTO raises through miscellaneous donations, grants, the Emil’s pizza sale, etc. will go towards the “add-ons” that will make our playground a place that provides engaging options for all students. Basketball hoops, a sandbox, a gaga-ball pit, equipment shed, benches, picnic tables, & gardening areas are all ideas that have been brainstormed. Those will come in time. But for now, we should all be proud of the fact that we came together with a very specific goal in mind: to construct a playspace for the students of Ixonia that give options for different levels activity, socialization, and fun! And as we close out these first four months of the school year, we can say that we’ve achieved that!
Below is an updated rendering of our playground. Our playground committee will convene in January to discuss the options and make final recommendations on the equipment and color pallet that will fit within the design of the school. We will be looking for volunteers to help us engage in a community building event in Summer 2018!
Thank you for helping us reach this milestone and for all the support you give to make Ixonia Elementary such a wonderful place, full of opportunities for our kids! I hope that you each enjoy the holidays with family and friends.
With gratitude,
Stacy Yearling

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the fundraising efforts - Mrs. Yearling may have paid the price today, but it's the students who will reap the reward of your hard work for years to come... and we are grateful.
