Hello Titans! Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! A new school year is the perfect time for a fresh start and the theme of the year is apparently Change, because we have had quite a few changes on the campus over the summer.


We're happy to welcome our new admin team: Principal Richard Nash, new Assistant Principals, Brianne Froumis and Colin Young, and returning Assistant Principal, Aaron Little. We also have new Student Services personnel, Joanie Birger-Lopez and Karly Wardwell. And, we had quite a few teachers retire at the end of the school year, so we will have many new faces in the faculty as well.


We're so excited to see the new and returning students back on campus! Welcome back, Titans!

SCHEDULE CHANGES

In order to better serve our students, we are revamping some of the procedures due to the term format change to Trimesters. The first of these changes will be the schedule change process.


Registration

Students will receive a course list and be able to request changes at registration. Please note the following:

Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will get a course list for trimester one ONLY.

NEW THIS YEAR: Seniors will be given a list of courses for all three trimesters due to the graduation and a-g requirements. This is ONLY a list of courses. It will not have periods or teachers. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will be able to request changes to their trimester one courses with a form at registration. Seniors will be able to request changes to all three trimesters.


Period, Teacher, and Trimester Requests


Requests to change a teacher, trimester, or period (INCLUDING OFF-ROLL) will not be granted. Off-roll periods are selected by the system and have a lower priority than academic or elective classes.


Mid-Year Changes

In the middle of trimester one, students will be able to request changes to their trimester two and three classes.


Schedule Change Process:

Please review the list of courses you will get at Registration. Please note: requests for a specific period, teacher, or trimester will not be granted. AP courses cannot be dropped per AP Agreement. Complete a Schedule Change Request form if any of the following apply:

1. You are missing a required course

2. You already took the course

3. You need the course to meet a graduation requirement

4. A course appears twice on your list

5. You do not meet a prerequisite for a course on your list

6. A course is out of sequence (ie. Tri 1- Integrated Math 1b, Tri 2 - Integrated Math 1a)


Our first priority will be to fix first trimester issues. If your requests are possible, they will be reflected on your final schedule, which will be available to you on Synergy the day before school starts. The last day to make schedule changes for Tri 1 is 9/7/2018.

TEACHER, PERIOD, OR TRIMESTER REQUESTS WILL NOT BE HONORED

SCHEDULES WILL NOT BE REARRANGED FOR OFF-ROLL REQUESTS

ACADEMIC TUTORS

If you have Academic Tutor listed on your schedule, on the first day of school you will report to the Titan Center (K-16) during the period you have it listed. You must come to the Titan Center to obtain your Ticket to AT. Instructions will be provided for signing up with a teacher.

COLLEGE APPLICATION INFO SESSIONS

We will be holding four college application workshops. All sessions require that students register prior to the presentation, and seating is limited. These sessions are intended for senior students only during homeroom. Sign-ups are available here. and in students' homeroom classes during the counselors' presentations.

PSAT

All tenth graders are pre-registered and paid for by the district. Taking the PSAT again during the Junior year can help improve SAT scores and provides entry to the National Merit Scholarship Program. PSAT/NMSQT.


This year, our PSAT ordering deadline has been moved up! Any 9th or 11th graders who would like to take the PSAT will need to register by Wednesday, September 12th at 3:30pm. You can register online via the Titans Payments Webstore, or at the finance office.


For eleventh graders who qualify, Fee Reductions are available. Please contact Miss Hughes in the Counseling Office for the application.


We will not be able to accommodate late registrations.

COLLEGE TESTING

College Testing Dates of this School Year
College testing dates are fast approaching. If you plan to take the ACT or SAT this school year, please pay close attention to the dates to avoid late fees or missing the test entirely. You can register for the SAT at the College Board website here. You can register for the ACT at the ACT website here.
