CLASSROOM NEWS
Kindergarten
Hillcrest Kindergarten will be in the Red Ribbon Parade at Enterprise Early Education Center on October 26th.
4th Grade
~ 4th Grade will be taking a field trip to Wetumpka, AL on November 7 to attend Alabama Frontier Days. Students will experience one of the largest and most authentic living history events in Alabama. They will see the south as it transitioned from Creek Indian lands to military forts and civilian homesteads during the period 1700-1820. Parents wanting to attend and chaperone should let their child's teacher know. Cost for parents is $8. Permission slips will be coming home in October.
~ Many students have passed their multiplication goal by making a 100% on facts 0-9. Please continue to work with your child to master their multiplication facts.
PE Department
Multi-Cultural Diversity Week
Multi-Cultural Diversity week will be October 15-19. Each day at school we will share facts about the cultures that over 60 of our students are part of. This year we have students from 20 different cultures attending HES.
Monday - overview of the term Multi-Cultural Diversity
Tuesday -focus on languages
Wednesday - focus on foods
Thursday - focus on fashions
Friday - focus on music
The district hosts an evening event at the high school on October 18 at 6:00. All families and students are invited to attend. There will be food, entertainment, and school displays present.
Hillcrest Attendance Facts
5th grade had the highest attendance for the month of September
Many of our classes have earned their 10 days of perfect attendance and are working on their next 15 days! Continue to make coming to school every day a priority! Let's be proactive and plan ahead the night before so that when the morning comes around, everything is ready to go!
LIBRARY NEWS
Accelerated Reader (AR)
The 1st nine weeks AR cut off is October 4, 2018. In order to attend the upcoming AR celebration, students must meet his/her AR goal and have a comprehension score of 85% or higher for the nine weeks in AR.
Parents keep track of your student's progress! If you'd like to receive emails showing your student's quiz or test results, click the Email Setup link in Renaissance Home Connect and follow the directions. To be sure these emails reach your inbox, add homeconnectautodelivery@renlearnrp.com to your address book.
AR Celebration will be October 25 & 26, 2018! We are going to Aplin Farms in Dothan. Watch for more information in your child’s Wednesday folder.
