Centerview families:
Here we are, just cruisin’ through December toward the end of the calendar year. Before we head into winter break, I want to take a moment to thank our Centerview Elementary community for their dedication and perseverance during this year.
This is a challenging time and I’ve seen our school community continue to work together with the best intentions and with each of us bringing all we can to the moment. I feel fortunate to have such enthusiastic staff working in partnership with dedicated families that support students each day. As we move into the New Year, let’s continue working and learning as one to support and see great success in 2021 with and for our students.
Some news and notes:
- Our winter break begins next week and there will no school December 23, 2020-January 1, 2021. School resumes Monday, January 4, 2021 in Extended Flexible Learning (distance) model.
- The Governor announced today new statewide guidelines for reopening preK-6 schools, and we're encouraged that we will be able to begin this process for our elementary students as early as January 19. See the district message that went out earlier. We look forward to updating you on these plans after winter break.
- This week, we invited a very limited number of students back for at-school learning specific to their learning needs. We are very hopeful the public health situation and our own operations and staffing impacts support us in opening further in the coming weeks.
This is our last Centerview Elementary newsletter of 2020. I wish you all a safe, restful and healthy winter break. I look forward to seeing you next year!!
My best,
Mike
Extended Flex Learning Families: Material pickup
Greetings,
This is our last newsletter for 2020. This year has been historical, and I can honestly say I am looking forward to what 2021 brings. Today, the Governor announced new guidance to schools for reopening preK-6. Over the coming days, our district will be working through that guidance and understanding what that means for our schools. Extended Flexible Learning will remain in place for families who choose it throughout the school year. There will be much more information shared with families in the coming days.
For families that have been doing Extended Flexible Learning (distance) all fall, Wednesday, December 9, was a material pickup day. If you missed it, please call your school’s main office to arrange for an alternate to pick up student resources.
Enjoy our winter break…stay safe…stay healthy and I look forward to hearing from you in the new year!

Teachers open up about Extended Flexible Learning
We asked some of our teachers to share their experiences and observations of Extended Flexible Learning. "This year is different. . . and that's okay . . . We're in this together. We're all learning." Listen to their honest, real and vulnerable perspectives as they discuss the challenges and successes of this year.
