Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians:
March is just around the corner and with that, we invite you to the WCS STEAM Fair! This is the 7th annual event that we have hosted and have been incredibly impressed with the scale of the production. The date is set for Wednesday, March 27, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., with a snow date of Thursday, March 28. If you have professional experience in the any field of science, technology, engineering, art, or music, we encourage to you email us at wcssteam@windhamsd.org to schedule a booth location for you to participate. The last several years, we have been fortunate to have volunteers whose background is in virtual reality, meteorology, biotechnology, architecture, robotics, and so much more. We hope to see you there!
After reading The Invisible Boy at our last all school assembly, it was an incredible reminder of how productive and powerful it can be to gather all students in one location and listen to a good book. In an effort to continue our work around social emotional learning, equity, and inclusion, I will be reading a new book to students at our next all school assembly. The book is titled Racism and Intolerance and supports an inclusive school environment while delivering content in an age-appropriate manner. Challenging concepts such as racism, intolerance and prejudice are explained through symbolic experiences that are easily relatable for students. Please feel free to stop by if you would like to preview the book in order to provide additional support at home.
Reaching this point of the school year is always a milestone. Given the numerous transitions we can expect for next year, we are confident in the planning we have accomplished to date, and know that we are ahead of schedule. Believe it or not, we are only a few weeks away from beginning our student placement process for next year and will keep you informed every step of the way.
Whether you are staying close to town or headed somewhere tropical, we would like to wish all of our families and friends a safe and relaxing Winter Break. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Rory O’Connor
