Congratulations to senior Peter Casey on earning the rank of Eagle Scout
Congratulations to Peter Casey! On Tuesday night, Peter went before the Eagle board of review and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. We are very proud of his dedication and commitment. He has been active in Harwich Troop 76 since 2013. His community service project entailed building a "Little Free Library" that will be installed at Holy Trinity Church, our local parish. Attached is a picture of Peter with his sister and brother next to the finished project.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. The designation "Eagle Scout" was founded over one hundred years ago. Only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process.

The first Monomoy Youth Voices Exhibition was a huge success!
This exhibition is inspired by the idea that everyone’s voice has purpose and power- no matter how they choose to express it.
The amount of thought, research, passion, and courage that was put into each piece was truly inspiring. Remember that everyone’s work, voice, and actions have the capability to create positive change in our schools, neighborhoods, country, and beyond.
Thank you to all the following groups for sharing their work at the opening;
- Ms. Doyle’s Creative Writing Class & Sandscript
- Ms. Donavan’s Global Art & Design Class
- Ms. Schuermann’s Graphic Design Class
- Best Buddies
- & Animal Welfare Club
Congratulations and thank you, everyone!

JUNIOR PARENT COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY PLANNING NIGHT A BIG HIT!
On Thursday, January 17th Counselors, students, and parents came together to discuss the College Application Process. We were blown away by the turnout in the library (over 100 attendees) last night and we will obviously need to move next year’s presentation to the Auditorium. Your involvement helps us “guide” your student more effectively towards a final and appropriate college decision. If you did not receive a packet of information please have your student come to Guidance to pick one up. Keep in mind you will be receiving a letter shortly with your appointment time and date. We look forward to seeing you on a more personal level to assist in the creation of your child’s post-secondary plan.
SAT PREPARATION IS KEY!
Your students are invited to join SAT® Practice Kickoff Week, January 14–18. During this week, we encourage students to take the next step on their SAT practice journey by linking their College Board and Khan Academy® accounts, which unlocks a free SAT study plan.
Linking their accounts will send their PSAT/NMSQT® scores to Khan Academy, giving them access to a personalized experience on Official SAT Practice.
Research shows that studying on Official SAT Practice for 20 hours is associated with an average score gain of 115 points from the PSAT/NMSQT to the SAT. That's nearly double the average score gain of students who don't use Khan Academy.
ATTENTION SENIORS
The Guidance Team will be conducting scholarship workshops during Enrichment (last period of the day) on 1/30 and 2/6. The first session on 1/30 will be hosted by Dollars for Scholars, our major “umbrella scholarship organization.
The workshop on 2/6 focus on other scholarship opportunities posted on Naviance in addition to Dollars for Scholars.
Both events will be held in the MRHS Library.

Athletics Weekly Summary
January 14th - January 19th
Written by: Caroline Howard
Boy oh boy oh boy! Has anyone else grown tired of this bitterly cold weather? I mean the first snowfall is always fun, but after awhile--not being able to twist your gas cap on because your hands are so cold gets to the point where I might as well just skip the gas! Anyways, I can tell you one thing I have not grown tired of---and that’s both the Basketball and Hockey teams! So, without hesitation I give you this week’s Athletic Column!
On Friday, we had our three MIAA Ambassadors travel to their Winter Huddle! These three, Jason Masiello (Senior), Sarah Babb (Junior), and Maggie Dever (Sophomore) all represented our school and athletic department by filling the room with positive and strategic ways to make our program even better! They came up with an action plan for a service project for the spring. We will keep you posted as it progresses. Nice job Ambassadors!
On Saturday, the Cape Cod Furies had Falmouth on their toes as this game was a big one! They showed strong offensive play, as well as a solid wall of defense. Leading up into the third, the Furies were down 3-0. But, two quick goals by Connor Boucher and Margaret Dickson put the Furies at a score of 3-2. However, Falmouth popped on more in the net, making the final score 4-2. Way to put it all out there girls!
Also on Saturday we had the Monarchs game! The boys were ready to put a few away in the net, and that’s just what they did. In the first half, a total of FOUR goals were scored that gave them the lead! This put their opponent, East Bridgewater out of reach and had the Monarchs take home the win! Great work boys!
On Wednesday, the Monarchs played another game! The Monarchs displayed a valiant effort against the ferocious Nantucket Whalers, who had traveled a long way for a good game. Overall, the Monarchs fell to the Whalers 6-2, but showed excellent teamwork and sportsmanship! Great effort boys!
Thursday night brought around both Girls and Boys Basketball games. Both teams played Cape Cod Tech and showed that home town rivalry spirit! The girls game was extremely close with the final score reading 47-41 in favor of Tech. Great plays were made by the Sharks with Aleidy Rodriguez-Minaya, Erin Starkey, Mackenzie Balfore, and Maggie Dever leading the charge! As for the boys, the Sharks had a strong game against the Crusaders. It is safe to say that these Sharks weren’t playing any games on the court! The final buzzer sounded and left the scoreboard reading 63-42 Sharks! Wow! Great job guys!
Well folks, that’s the gist for this week! Please, stay warm this weekend and have some hot cocoa ready to go-go as the Nor’easter comes in! For now, I’m Caroline Howard and Go Sharks!
