As part of Keep Durham Beautiful's Creek Week activities, the Pack will be helping keep our community clean Sunday afternoon 12 March from 2-3:30PM. We will meet at Southern Boundaries Park (100 3rd Fork Rd, Durham, NC 27707) at 2PM and walk the Third Fork Creek Trail and pick up trash along the trail and creek. The trailhead begins at the softball field to the right of the parking lot. We will meet there at 2PM and follow the trail to where the creek crosses MLK Parkway. This time we may be workig from the bridge south depending on the amount of trash we find. Please wear clothes/shoes you don't mind getting dirty. We will have gloves, trash bags and grabber sticks available. Each of our cleanup events is an adventure and you never know what you will find. In the past we have discovered tires, lawn mowers, phone books, frisbees and lots of cups, cans and bottles. Come out and help keep Durham beautiful!

As part of the statewide NC Big Sweep, volunteers from all 100 counties in our state work together to rid our streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, and beaches of litter. Durham has been hosting a Big Sweep event for over 15 years now. In just the last four years over 1,500 volunteers have helped to clean an estimated 45,000+ lbs of trash out of our community. The Durham Big Sweep is sponsored by Keep Durham Beautiful, City of Durham Stormwater Services and the Durham Soil and Water Conservation District.
