MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOTZNY

Dear Parents,

When we change our dismissal to either rainy day or inclement weather, we notify parents in three ways. We will send a School Messenger to every parent and/or guardian listed as a Sampson contact. We will send a Remind to every parent in the Sampson Parents Remind Group, and we will post on Facebook and Twitter. Instructions for joining the Sampson Parents

Remind Group are as follows.

To join the Remind Group: Text @sampsonpa to the number 81010

**Also, we would love for you to join us for our Sampson 20th Birthday Celebration. We will be gathering on Thursday, October 20th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Sampson. More information will be coming soon.

22-23 WATCH D.O.G.S. Program

Mark you calendars for September 20th, from 5:30 – 7:00! You won’t want to miss our WATCH D.O.G.S. Kick Off! What is WATCH D.O.G.S. you ask???? WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative designed and developed by educators, experts and parent volunteers. The program helps provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating, by their presence, that education is important. WATCH D.O.G.S. also provides extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of campus safety allowing students and teachers to focus on learning.

If you are interested in becoming part of this program, please use the link below to provide contact information. We look forward to having you join us for this exciting program!

NATURE TRAILS

Do you love the great outdoors and helping students learn? Then our third and fifth grade Nature Trails might be for you! Sampson third and fifth graders will attend Nature Trails on January 19th (math/sci homerooms) and January 20th (ELAR homerooms). We will need parents at the stations to help facilitate the activities and teach the concepts. Volunteers must be currently trained (year 2021 and up) since the Trails has a completely new curriculum. Please see the following for training details and know we will be coordinating grade level sign ups soon:

Character Education

We are excited to begin our new Character Education program in CFISD this year, Bringing Out the Best. Each month we will focus on a positive trait at school. Students will be encouraged to continue to talk about and show this trait at home and out in the community. For the month of September our focus will be School Pride.

You can see the character traits we will work on each month and access each month’s lessons through the district website here: Bringing Out the Best

Sampson Gives Back and We Need You!

Big picture

Sampson is thrilled to announce its partnership with surrounding schools and charities and we're even more excited that it involves the help of our Sampson students, staff and families!

This month we will give back to Entrusted Houston and the Carpenter Center.

Entrusted Houston meets the needs of the foster and adopt community to promote restoration for kids, families and front line workers. We need your help in collecting NEW AND PACKAGED kid's underwear and socks for foster children and children without a placement.

Please bring these items to Sampson next week (during school or Curriculum Night), September 12-16.

The Carpenter Center provides a safe place for students who have experienced emotional, social, and/or behavioral problems at their home campus the opportunity to continue to be educated as well as personally mentored during their difficult time. Sampson will be providing a salty and sweets for The Carpenter Center staff.
