Ann Arbor District Wide Expo- Call for Participants
AAPS is holding a district wide expo on Wednesday, February 24. The event will take place at Pioneer High School from 6:00-8:00 pm. We would like 2-4 second graders to present our process and findings from the Chilly Challenge Project, which students presented during the Fall STEAM expo. Students will be presenting for a half-hour time slot. Please consider having your child present. The button below will take you to the sign-up.
Box Tops Competition
A2 STEAM is having a Box Tops for Education Spring Drive. To encourage students to participate, the class that collects the most Box Tops will be announced and will win a prize! If you have any Box Tops at home, consider sending them in with your child!
3 Screens Assembly
On Thursday, students went to an exciting assembly by 3 Screens Productions in the brand new gym! 3 giant screens were set up in the gym and a video program was projected across the 3 screens to create a giant movie. The program focused on bullying and "being awesome" by stitching together movie clips, real-life stories, music, and sports action to support the positive message. Ask your children about the 3 Screens Assembly and what they learned!
Finishing Unit 5
This week, students reviewed Unit 5 and completed the Unit Assessment. After break, we will be moving right into Unit 6, which focuses on solving number stories and addition strategies.
Pedestrian Safety
Students attended an assembly about being a safe pedestrian and passenger in a car. Officer Hickey from the Ann Arbor Police department discussed the importance of being alert and being safe. He put special emphasis on crossing the street safely, and discussing how dangerous it is to get out of the car in the road.
Distractions
Shopkins and other items are coming to school and causing distractions in the classroom. Please remind students to leave these items at home unless specifically requested by school (spark party). When Shopkins and other toys are seen during the instructional day, they will be held until picked up by a parent or the last day of school.
