Hornet Happenings
As we approach the end of two weeks of self isolation, the devastating financial impact has hit many of our families. While I do not know how long this will last, I can share some thoughts around remote learning as we move beyond spring break.
1. Set a schedule. It may be different than school schedule, but it needs to be consistent.
2. Look for learning opportunities in daily activities. (Think about measuring in cooking, time management in chores, etc.)
3. Schedule outdoor break time. Take a walk. Play.
4. Normal school is almost 7 hours, and it includes breaks, lunch, recess, PE, music. It is not 7 hours of sitting.
5. Take a breath. All of a sudden, you are responsible for so much. Give yourself a break. BSD website has Student Apps, which includes StudentSource. StudentSource contains games for kids that have been vetted for you.
6. Above all else, stay safe and healthy.
Coming up:
Beginning March 30, curbside lunch pickup will resume for all children ages 1+ (locations)
There will be a remote learning plan for students. Details to follow... For next week, continue with the BSD Remote Learning Plan
I share interesting tidbits and resources on the Errol Hassell FaceBook page. All official information will be emailed directly to you.
If you know of anyone who is not getting emails from the district and/or from the school, please have them call the main office. We will help them set everything up. 503-356-2090
