Greetings Churchill Parents
Students Wrapping Up Diagnostic Testing
This week your students are wrapping up their diagnostic testing in Reading, Writing, and Math. These test are taken at the beginning, middle, and end of each year to track student growth and provide staff with areas of strength and improvement. While the students have been working hard we certainly have a ways to go as we continue to evolve from pandemic education to getting students back into our buildings. Additionally, we will use this data to help drive our School Improvement that will in turn support our district goals.

Suite360 and Social Emotional Learning
We are excited to implement Suite 360 Social and Emotional Learning into our Executive Functioning classrooms this school year!
Suite 360 began with students completing a Beginning of Year Assessment that provided Churchill with invaluable information regarding our students’ social and emotional well being.
We are currently using the Suite360 platform to work with our students on Social Emotional Learning. This learning focuses on how students can best support themselves and show empathy for others. The first week of lessons focused on Planning and Organization in which 7th graders learned how to break long-term projects into manageable chunks and 8th graders learned the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and what they can do to motivate themselves.
The second week of lessons focused on Considering Consequences in which 7th graders learned how to prioritize tasks and how to manage their time and 8th graders learned about financial literacy which included how to budget, the difference between credit and debit, and the importance of the credit score.

The Churchill Cross-Country team held the annual Galesburg Invite on September 16, 2021. The meet saw well over 200 athletes competing and runners couldn’t have asked for better weather. Congratulations to our 8th grade runner Lily who finished in 3rd place in the varsity girl’s race. She finished the course in an unofficial time of 13:59. The team looks forward to competing in the upcoming Sectional Meet on Saturday, Oct. 9 in Sterling, IL.
