Important Information for You!

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

This week marks Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. I am so thankful to work with so many people who truly care about kids and doing whatever it takes to make their lives better. Your tireless work does not go unnoticed by me or anyone else! This week the PTO has some very special things planned to thank you all for helping our students 'grow'. The following is a brief summary so that you can plan accordingly for food:

  • Monday-Breakfast will be available in the lounge from Big Apple Bagels
  • Wednesday-A sweet little snack will be delivered
  • Thursday-Watch for a special (non-food) surprise...
  • Friday-Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Again, thank you for all the amazing things that you do and for putting KIDS FIRST!

Another Very Successful Kindergarten Round-up Week is in the Books

Last week, we worked to welcome over 300 families to Davison! Thank you so much to our entire staff! Whether you were working in the building helping keep things running as normal or working at Round-up, your help is greatly appreciated. Very special thanks and recognition goes out to our office staff, Anna P., Sue, and especially Anna W. for all the extra work you do in addition to your daily duties to get everything ready, making appointments, and working to properly register our new students.

Bike Helmet Day

Monday, May 1st is Bike Helmet Day! Each kindergarten student will receive a free bike helmet from the D.A.Y.S. group. Since I will not be in the building, Jen will be helping and around to get classrooms for their helmet fittings. Remember, we do not have a schedule, you'll just go when she comes to get your class. It is most helpful if teachers can move ponytails down on little girls if they come in all 'done up'. Due to this taking place in the gym, lunch will be in the classrooms as the weather does not look like it will be nice enough to eat outside. If we can get through the helmet fittings quickly enough, we will be able to hold lunches in the classrooms.

Kindergarten/DK District PLC

On Tuesday, Kindergarten/DK teachers will meet with other District Kindergarten teachers at the WIlliams Property for the last District PLC of the year. Classroom teachers should have received the agenda from Dena and Matt last week and should ensure that they come prepared to working on and completing curriculum work. For those staff members that will be in the building, thank you for all that you will be doing to keep the building and students running as normal.

Employee of the Year Nominations

Do you know someone who works for Davison Community Schools who consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty? Do you know of a staff member who exemplifies what it means to be "Kids First"? The Davison Educational Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the annual 'Teacher of the Year' and 'Support Person of the Year' awards. Winners will be announced at the District's annual End-of-the-Year Staff Recognition luncheon held in June. Four employees will be recognized: Teacher of the Year Elementary (Grades Preschool - 4), Teacher of the Year Middle Level (Grades 5-8), Teacher of the Year High School Level (Grades 9-12), and Support Person of the Year (District wide). Deadline for nominations is Friday, May 19.

DEF Mini-Grant Applications

Application forms for DEF Classroom Mini-Grants and the Professional Scholar are now available on our website. Click on the link below to access them.

Mini-grant applications are due to your building principal by Friday, May 5 and Professional Scholar applications are due by May 15. Winners will be announced at the annual End of Year Staff Recognition Luncheon in June. Good luck!
